We enjoyed our stay at Sheraton very much. Our room was big, clean and with a beautiful view over the sea. Breakfast was great with a big variety. Although the hotel is very big we were almost alone at the pool during the day. Most of the staff does not understand English but Eric, our almost privat guest manager, helped us with everything, so we had no problems during our stay. He arranged teetimes for golf, SPA, transfers to Sanya and restaurant bookings for us. Massage at the SPA was a bit hard but very good.

The hotel in general is quite amazing. The biggest challenge we had is the language barrier with the stuff (locals), who barely speak English. Had to explain same thing thousand times to different people at the same spot (±10 people at the reception, ±10 waiters, etc.) That took too much much time and was not appreciated, of course. The big help was a Guest Relation Manager Mr. Erik Tiulpanov, he could find the clue to communicate to his Chinese colleagues and was constantly solving the issues, that kept occurring although our activities didn't change from day to day (thus, every time the same problem). He definitely contributed to the positive experience of stay.

The territory is green and decently maintained. Beachfront hotel, you can use the beach, but no swimming is allowed at Haitang Bay (the lifeguards will be whistling if you go into the waiter deeper than a knee level.)

Kids facilities are quite lovely, the kids bedroom decoration was very cute, they also loved the indoor play centre and the animals, and the pool of course!

Breakfast was great with lots of local treats. We booked the rooms with a dining package (not really a half-board or full-board option, but just some limited menu available for lunch or dinner). It would be the same each day! Luckily they found an opportunity to extend the choice of the dishes, but we had to prove it every single day to each new waiter that approached us.

The staff needs quite some English speaking skills. Many thanks to Mr.Erik Tiulpanov, he is a great asset to the hotel.

For the rest we really enjoyed the stay.

I’m currently staying in this property on a family holiday for 8 nights.

This is a property with great facilities with a number of swimming pools, yes a number of.... pools😊 of different depth levels, 2 ft, 3 ft, 4ft and 5ft for all guests from toddlers to adults. The Resort has got a very good green coverage with coconut trees among several other trees & plants, a lovely private beach, a good kids club with indoor play area and bikes for rent - kids bike & family bike. They also share the facilities of adjoining Royal Begonia, also part of the same hotel group and so there are a lot to do inside the property itself.

With all these facilities, this makes a good place to stay for a few days but be prepared to ‘be on your own’ once checked in. Service is not so great. They perhaps don’t care since Sanya, being a top tourist destination, hotels do get good booking rate any way.

A few specific service issues, I noticed / experienced are...

1. In room dining ordered takes infinite time. They say 40 min but it takes much longer. I once ordered just 2 desserts and after waiting for an hour, I called In-room-dining as well as Guest Service to check if I could cancel the order. it was delivered after a while and then got a call from Guest service if I still wanted to cancel😊.

2. It takes a lot of time to serve drinks in the western Restaurant, “The Feast”. I had to wait for 20 min or more every time for just a glass of wine. One day, my drink came after I finished almost half of my main course. Food quality and taste is good but not consistent. We ordered same main course and dessert two days in a row and it was not the same😊

3. Breakfast is always busy and the staff do a good job allotting table for the guest and thats it. Most of the times, you need to call for essentials like cutlery and paper tissues. They don’t clean hands after cleaning up tables used by previous guests.

I didn’t face any major problems. But if there’s any major problem, “it’s NOT how great the facility is... rather it’s how good the service level is” that makes the difference and hence need to make a mention of it in this review.
