Great property for a few days of stay. Service is quite average. Don’t expect Marriot /SPG experience.

I’m currently staying in this property on a family holiday for 8 nights.

This is a property with great facilities with a number of swimming pools, yes a number of.... pools😊 of different depth levels, 2 ft, 3 ft, 4ft and 5ft for all guests from toddlers to adults. The Resort has got a very good green coverage with coconut trees among several other trees & plants, a lovely private beach, a good kids club with indoor play area and bikes for rent - kids bike & family bike. They also share the facilities of adjoining Royal Begonia, also part of the same hotel group and so there are a lot to do inside the property itself.

With all these facilities, this makes a good place to stay for a few days but be prepared to ‘be on your own’ once checked in. Service is not so great. They perhaps don’t care since Sanya, being a top tourist destination, hotels do get good booking rate any way.

A few specific service issues, I noticed / experienced are...

1. In room dining ordered takes infinite time. They say 40 min but it takes much longer. I once ordered just 2 desserts and after waiting for an hour, I called In-room-dining as well as Guest Service to check if I could cancel the order. it was delivered after a while and then got a call from Guest service if I still wanted to cancel😊.

2. It takes a lot of time to serve drinks in the western Restaurant, “The Feast”. I had to wait for 20 min or more every time for just a glass of wine. One day, my drink came after I finished almost half of my main course. Food quality and taste is good but not consistent. We ordered same main course and dessert two days in a row and it was not the same😊

3. Breakfast is always busy and the staff do a good job allotting table for the guest and thats it. Most of the times, you need to call for essentials like cutlery and paper tissues. They don’t clean hands after cleaning up tables used by previous guests.

I didn’t face any major problems. But if there’s any major problem, “it’s NOT how great the facility is... rather it’s how good the service level is” that makes the difference and hence need to make a mention of it in this review.

Overall, it’s a good stay. Thank you, Sheraton!

A large and more “mass market” hotel (a “standard” Sheraton ie like those US Sheraton hotels, ie basic) with 500 rooms. The building a bit old but the room is new, clean, and comfortable (part of the hotel already remodeled / renovated recently). [The other Sheraton in YL Bay is a more hi-end resort.]

HT Bay is a very long/wide/flat beach with smooth sand and thus great for walking/playing around. And for swimming the hotel has ok pools.

Services in general ok (ie they get the work done, while I would expect resort hotels to have more smiles/friendliness).

The additional services they provided to SPG elite members: (1) Right after booking they called and replied email confirming my needs and upgraded right away; (2) breakfast in a separate restaurant - more attentive services and a quiet/comfortable environment. I appreciate that.

Nice SPG platinum member room upgrade (to a nice suite but still no wine glasses nor coffee machine. Did offer welcome fruit).

Convenient. A few mins walk to a mall with supermarkets and restaurants.

the hotel rooms, pools, private beach and kids activists are very good. We had wonderful time there but front office staff service attitude and the way she talked to us made us feel very uncomfortable...we won't recommend our friends to stay for sure.

I have stayed in Sheraton on May.I am so happy with the service provided by front office staff they talk in English but I think for other staff there is language problem.
The Room on 7th floor near beach side is so amazing with beautiful view.Staff are very kindly,the managers follow up with us if we have some problem they want to know immediately but everything was fine,awesome no more words to describe .
Breakfast is very good and I have chance to taste Hainan local food and coconut juice also .I recommend my friends who are going to visit sanya stay with sheraton haitang bay.
Environment is so clean and fresh air but its too but even thought I have enjoyed a lot here.
I will come back again to stay.

After this trip i know i will definitely stay here again the next time. The transportation is very convenient, the environment is very clean, the internal facilities are good, mainly the attitude of the waiter is very humble. In particular, the room attendant knowing that my hand was injured immediately got me a Band-Aid.Thank you for an amazing stay.

I had a wonderful time at this hotel. The staff were mostly helpful and although most had trouble with English, the English-speaking staff was always available to help us with whatever we needed. The room was beautiful and the balcony was a wonderful place to relax and unwind. We had access to at least two pools that were never busy and were the perfect temperature. The free buffet breakfast was incredible! Fluffy pancakes and waffles, egg station, fresh fruit, pastries, etc...I looked forward to breakfast every day. Some tips for breakfast: The best times to go to breakfast are either 6:30am or 9:45am. Otherwise, it's a ridiculously long wait for seating and is overly crowded. Sit in the small Steam and Spice restaurant for immediate seating. They have most of the same things and you are free to go to the main dining room to grab whatever is not in the smaller dining room.
The Inazzia Labor Day Buffet was a bit pricey but the BBQ seafood was absolutely delicious and the outdoor dining added the perfect atmosphere for the meal. I need to mention Grady who worked for Guest Services. He was so helpful and made us feel at home during our entire stay. I knew that if I ever needed anything, I could contact him and he would help us. This made our entire experience worthwhile. Thank you Grady!

Unfortunately, I have a few service complaints. First, there were never any towels at the pool! We constantly had to ask an attendant for towels and there was no attendant at one of the adjacent pools. At the lobby bar, the service was very slow as some of the staff seemed more interested in smoking and chatting than making drinks. The "Gift Shop" is a misnomer. It's basically just beach gear and a tiny collection of toiletries but no deodorant (which is what I needed to buy). It would be helpful for the gift shop to include more variety of toiletries, as well as things like phone chargers and ear buds.

In all, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel for a few nights of rest and relaxation.

Room tip: We stayed on the fourth floor with a garden view room. It was nice and I have no complaints.
