I stayed at this hotel December 2018. I had a room with Partial Ocean View, and Tub on Balcony. The room Decor was nice if you like the Victorian Style. The Bathroom was Marble. Everything worked, and room was clean. There was a fridge in the room. The grounds were breathtaking, the pool very nice, occupied mostly in late evening into the night. The beach was right across the street, if you exit from the back of the hotel, passing the pooi on the way out. I walked 3+ miles in both directions. If you go to the left you stumble upon a park where older ones played music, and exercised, and if you go to the left you come across a small park where people exercise, and if you continue making a slight right, you come across 2-3 restaurants, and 2 or so grocery stores. If you want a better selection of eats you can take a cab to main part of city. The breakfast at the hotel was A+ with a excellent selections of Asian Breakfast standards, and surprisingly a good amount of American Breakfast selection. I prefer Asian breakfast personally. They had many, many options. There was outdoor, and indoor seating. The gym was OK, nothing to write home about, I did not utilize the spa, but they did have one. Some of the Cons: The Tub on the balcony took forever to fill up, so if you plan to use it, literally start it at least 30 minutes before you plan to soak, and also the water did not get very hot. The water in the bathroom shower got as hot as you wanted it to. Also you had to keep the balcony door closed because of condensation which would make the marble flooring slippery, and also mosquitos would come into the room. I did order from the Chinese Restaurant one night. The food was OK, not as amazing as food in Beijing/Shanghai Hotels. I highly recommend taking a trip to main city and beach area. I forget what it is called, it was the life of Sanya. I was extremely glad I stayed at this particular Crowne Plaza it was quiet. I am a very conservation, reserved person. I cherish quiet moments, but do not mind venturing to the lively part of town. I will try to remember where that area was. this particular Crowne Plaza is in a fairly Isolated area, it is extremely safe. I took walks at 2 am, and felt completely safe. Not that I would recommend that. It was nice to walk with the beach right there, it was fairly dark, but there were street lights. The TV had fairly good reception a few English, and other language channels. The hotel was 90% Chinese guest. Also important note, get the app Say Hi, or some other translation app. The reception, and all other staff literally spoke little to no English. Which was fine for me, as I am visiting their country. I do not expect natives to speak English. They were extremely kind and assisted in whatever way they could. I would strongly suggest mapping out what you would like to do. Taxi were fairly affordable and they would call the taxi for you. Uber was nit in existence when I was there, they did have another app similar to UBER, I found it easier to have them orders me taxi, and hailing one to get back from city center was fairly easy. If you prefer relaxation, and a breath taking beautiful scenery this is your hotel. If you want action, and streets packed with tourist stay in City Center. I felt like I got more sense of life in Sanya staying at this hotel as it was located in a local neighborhood. Feel free to ask any questions.
Sanya is more than worth the visit. I did get in the water although it was December it was a little chilly, but many people did swim. Only down side, the landscaping is beautiful like Hawaii, but the water is not clear at all. you cannot see your feet in the water. That was a let down. I thought the water would be crystal clear. It was most definitely murky, and not clear. I still had a great and amazing time.
