First off let me say a good portion of the staff were amazing, the staff on the bar and in the private beach were attentive and brilliant.
Check-in: On check in I was quized about my relationship with my partner, looked at with disgust and felt judged when I said we weren't married. I was quoted a specific rate which they changed on check in saying it was a new rate with no explanation and demanding I paid in dollars. The woman on reception "Mayar" I think, is full of her self and has an over inflated opinion of herself. She wasn't helpful or informative at all. Any questions I asked her was just sniffed at and ignored. We just wanted to get to our room and change so we paid and were told we had to be escorted.
Room: the room was clean but dated, no shower curtain so water went everywhere when you showered I had to ring twice to ask for new towels as we had one large towel in the room and 2 smalls both of which had to be used to stop the flood of water from the shower. The beds were comfortable but again dated and sheets showing signs of age.
Pool: hilarious, no grating around sides of pool so it's a fair chance you don't look and you break a leg. Signs said pool was open at 930 but had to wait most mornings for the pool guy to finish cleaning ended up watching a family getting shouted at for getting in at 1130 because he still wasn't done. Pool had several holes on the bottom which should have grate covers but are just black holes.
Beach: the only real saving grace of the whole place. Lovely beach area with loungers, beds, sofas and a great staff. Food from the sky yacht is decent and service is good. The water is full of wrappers and trash from the neighbouring hotels
Area: we went for a wander in al montazah and I asked reception for a pass which meant we wouldn't have to pay for tickets reception told me it would be fine with just our key. It was not fine. Had to pay for the tickets.
Check-out:
When checking out the same woman from before just bullied the other staff around, snatching pens and paper from her colleagues and showing little to no interest in customer service. Her colleagues were more Interested in how we would review the place verses how much we enjoyed our stay.
Bonus: I received a phone call the day after checkout demanding we pay more for our stay as they hadn't charged me enough even with the increase on my original quote.
I stayed here with my family 10 years ago and it was amazing. Sadly they've let it drop into disrepair and have hired some disrespectful staff.
Spend less time gossiping and telling people to review your hotel and actually spend some money on the place and you won't have to chase good reviews
