We had a fantastic stay at this accommodation. It rained more or less the whole week and thus we spent a bit of time in it!!! The accommodation is clean, bright and airy. There is lots of hot water, towels, loo rolls etc. The kitchen was well equipped and the tap water was drinkable. There was wifi, sat tv with some english speaking channels and a dvd player. The apartment was in a quiet location, although you could hear some noise from the neighbouring apartment. The patio was great.
The location of the apartment was a long walk into Zadar Old Town (40 mins). It was worth the walk though. Taxi back was 50 kuna during daytime. There is a bus stop at the bottom of the road too.
Locally there are lots of restaurants, although in October many were closing for the winter months. The apartment is a very short distance from the sea with safe swimming etc, although the majority of beaches are pebble. There is a supermarket at the bottom of the road and a bakery and cash machine. We hired a car so we could visit local places and the national parks. There were plenty of places to visit even in the rain! There is an adventure park close by with a ropes course. Zadar offers shopping and all the usual facilities. There is a cinema there too.
Our hosts were absolutely fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble. They kept us supplied with grapes from their vines and we were able to sample their home brewed wine and schnapps. They invited us to a bbq night which was hosted by them. A fantastic night with good company and food. Very little English is spoken (host speaks croatian and german) but that did not stop us all getting to know each other. Our host asked friends to help with translation when needed.
The only down side was the trip from the airport to the apartment. If you are hiring a car, get a sat nav or have thorough directions. Ask at the airport before you leave. In the dark the place is difficult to find as the road signs are a challenge until you get used to them and Zadar has lots of one way systems!!! If you get lost (like we did!!) head for the sea and follow the road towards Diklo (often signposted Petrcane). The road the apartment is on is close to the supermarket, bus stop etc just before Diklo (open harbour area). With many non English speaking locals, obtaining directions when lost was a challenge!!
Many thanks to our hosts for making us so welcome.
