I stayed for 4 nights in Slavija Hotel, and my experience was delightful!
The staff is very professional, kind and helpful in whatever you need, the rooms and all other facilities are very clean and in very good conditions also!
The location is what its best, they are in the middle of the city, within the walls of the Diocletian's Palace, which is great because you feel like living in a fairytale! Also you have everything very close by, including the port, which is 2-3 minutes walking :D

Room tip: "The rooms have a nice view of the streets of the city", "The terrace room has stunning views to the whole city"

Everything about this hotel stay was fantastic. The staff is absolutely delightful, and they were very helpful from the beginning - months ago. I planned rooms and meals with them, and they were so helpful in looking at additional excursions. We booked a food-culture tour with Mirjana on the staff and absolutely loved it. So special to hear the stories and the historical chapters of this amazing place. We tasted several traditional and local flavors (from meats and cheeses to chocolate and liquor).
The hotel is inside Roman Emperor Diocletian's retirement palace, which of course has filled in over time. But the tiny streets meander through and the hotel itself is tucked in among/attached to other buildings. So charming and quaint. The hotel is part of a UNESCO designation , so they weren't able to change anything structural. Each room is a unique surprise in layout, windows - some have little terraces.
It's a great location - walking distance to the port and promenade. It may seam like a mouse-maze in the beginning, but you find your way around quickly.
And another great offering from the hotel: same-day laundry service for only $15 (for an entire bag of laundry). It was perfect since I was traveling for another two weeks.
Breakfast in their partner restaurant was hot and tasty. Coffees made to order.
I loved my stay and can't wait to come back!

Room tip: Try for a room with a terrace!

Stayed 4 extra days after a Road Scholar tour. Short walks to most everything in Split. Excellent advice from front desk, especially Marija. We were leery of nightlife noise but music ended early and modern doors and windows took care of that. Move up to 'Superior' room with a patio and get the breakfast add-on.

Room tip: patio and breakfast add-on

This hotel is in the Diocletian Palace in old town. It is comfortable with a generous ala carte breakfast with the room. The staff is friendly and do so much to both welcome you as well as give you suggestions for seeing Split. Any and all questions you may have are answered. Miryana is especially great. She works the desk and always is interested in what you are doing. Her suggestions are perfect and if you have interests in other parts of Croatia, she is a great. She recommended a sleepy town south of Split and we ended up staying there for a week. She can also provide you a private tour of the town if you are interested.

We had a superior room with terrace and that was an execellent choice with a relatively large cozy terrace in a very crowded area. The room was newly refurbished which was nice. Do not be late at the breakfast service (very nice selections !) or you will end up sitting inside . Laundry service was very affordable compared to a luxury hotel (fill the bag for 13 Euros or so). Staff was nice and attentative 24/7. Highly recommandable.

Room tip: Get a room with a terrace....
