Disappointed

I was excited to stay here but just walking in the entrance my excitement turned to disappointment. The AC feels old, dated and down market, nothing like other ACs i’ve stayed at.
The suites on the top floor are so noisy, the walls of the room was banged up and dirty- they keep all the air conditioners for hotel on top of the suites upstairs bedroom- we downgraded to a regular room as noise was do bad.
The hotel needs investment , upgrading and serious cleaning
The reception staff were very friendly.

Beautiful lobby and modern dining area, bar and rooms. The registration staff were very pleasant and helpful as were the dining/bar staff. Very easy check-in. The rooms felt comfortable and roomy and were clean. Our request for a feather free room was not met but housekeeping quickly took care of our request. The bed was firm but comfortable. Our 6th floor view was not good, looking out toward several old apartment buildings. But the view from the inviting infinity pool was amazing!

Upon returning to our room at 6 pm the second day, our room had not been cleaned. Around 8 pm after 2 calls to the front desk, housekeeping came to clean the room. As late as it was, we just asked for towels and replacement of bottled water. Shortly after that, we were pleasantly surprised when the manager called, apologized and sent some macarons for our inconvenience. Housekeeping was inconsistent in replacing the coffee supplies and bottled water during our 5 day stay.

Upon departure, our bill was wrong, charging us for a daily breakfast and beverages that were supposed to be included in the Sip Back & Relax package. The manager made the changes, I signed and closed the bill. 30 minutes after our departure I noticed a $43.48 charge to our credit card. When we got home, we got an email with an attached invoice but when the document was opened there was no detail about charges. We called the hotel and were told a new document would be sent and unauthorized charges removed. We are still waiting and will call again in the morning.
All in all, the hotel was beautiful, the staff friendly and buffet food good. But because of the housekeeping and questionable billing, we would not stay here again.

Please note if you stay here, there is a tour guide named Miguel Espino that will greet you daily to offer his help with travel/tours. Don't use him. We agreed on travel to the airport the night before. When he had not shown up, we called him and it sounded like he just woke up. Luckily we got to the airport on time using an Uber.

Room tip: Don't use the tour guide Miquel Espino, he is not reliable. Ask for a high floor for a better view.

Disappointing. I had stayed at this hotel several times before, but I don't think I will ever return to this or any Marriott again. I had three reservations for myself and some visiting friends around the same time (April-May). One of the reservations was a Reward night. Eleven days after staying, I noticed they only gave me points on their loyalty program for one reservation. I completed their Missing Stay form and they responded that due to their "new" policy they would have to remove the Reward night if I wanted them to give me points for the two longer stays. If true, that's a senseless policy, but nonetheless, I told them to proceed. They deducted the stay from my records but never credited my account with the points. Instead they re-sent me the original email response to my Missing Stay report, asking me again to give up the Reward night. That's OK, Marriott Bonvoy. Keep it. I forgive and move on.

Flies while having breakfast, air conditioner did not work, had to fight o get new room, smelly carpets, this is a rat hole with poor maintenance and uncaring management. We booked with beakfast included, they said we did not, had to contact booking.com to prove we did, fimally they recognized it even thou we had printed our reservation which clearly stated bkfst was inclkuded.

Room tip: Find so.ewhere else.

The best staff of any hotel anywhere. Diego at the front desk was like a model for customer service. He literally helped with everything. He even help me get my SIM card operating. Housekeeping came everyday and did a decent job. This is my second time staying at this hotel, so I've gotten to appreciate the location a little better than my first. Warning: there is a hoard house next door. It looks like a family diner, but it's a whorehouse.

Free convenient safe parking. Fantastic rooftop pool. I love the view from my room. Beds were not especially comfortable. They felt like cheap IKEA beds. Climate control in the room worked great.

Close walk to a nice Starbucks and plenty of eating establishments. One of the best places I've eaten in Panama City is right outside the front door on the left. Remember, whorehouse on the right facing out the door. Great little restaurant on the left. The only problem I had with my stay, and the main reason I relocated to another downtown hotel, the gym is terrible. Broken equipment. No sign of imminent repair.

Room tip: Get the highest floor possible. A room with a view has an amazing view.

Dated rooms that could stand an update. Comfy bed but little else to rave about considering this is a Marriott property. Great city location is a plus. Check in took forever and bar service was about the worst I have encountered. 35 minutes to get 3 drinks and we were the only customers.
