Namuka bay is located a few miles inward from the main highway. It is secluded with no hustle and bustle of the roads and technology. This is the perfect place to unwind, relax, write a book or just take a step back from reality.

Beautiful location once you get there, if staying here would definitely recommend hiring a car as it’s quite a drive from everything Including the main road. Most tours won’t do pickups from here either. Paid for included breakfast with our booking but was told that meant it was only included for the first day..not really a beach for swimming but great snorkeling as there’s heaps of coral! Lovely family but there’s definitely room for overall improvement.

Highly recommended! Very friendly and warm service provided by the staff.

Spacious and clean villa with an outdoor shower. Electricity is available from dusk till dawn.

Take a snorkel and dive mask with you for exploring the gorgeous lagoon at this beautifully hidden location.

Perfect place to unwind. A bit of a drive from Nadi, then 5km up a gravel road. Staff is super friendly. Power is on from 6pm-6am. Not a sand beach, more of a coral beach. Beautiful view from rooms. Food is amazing. Not a resort at all, but still an amazing experience. Ask about kava!

We’d recommend staying at Namuka Bay Resort if you don’t want the cookie-cutter tourist hotel experience. What you get here is a wonderful beach front family-run business with few frills but a glimpse into Fijian life. There are goats, cows, chickens, cats and children on the premises. The beachfront bures are quiet with just the sound of the waves on the reef (although we didn’t have anyone in our adjoining bure – maybe it wouldn’t have been so peaceful if we’d had neighbors?) and wonderful sunset views.

The staff / family were very friendly, attentive and welcoming. The local recipe menu is prepared fresh from scratch with locally produced ingredients and with no 24 hour power there is no fridge, freezer or ice. The food was delicious – and was certainly one of our high points of our stay, particularly as it gave insights into local life (fresh milk from the cow, bread fruit and bananas from the tree, eggs from the chickens etc). Order what you want for the next meal – so lunch at breakfast; dinner at lunch and breakfast at dinner. We liked the fish in coconut milk, the salad with fish and the curries (fish and lamb). Sharing one breakfast between the two of us was plenty. The Fijian bun with coconut milk was a little odd (more like dumplings). Other reviewers found the food overpriced – but you’re paying for the convenience of not having to venture off site. Hot water was available at no charge to make tea and coffee in your room. Bottled water was available for purchase. If you want instant pizza, hotdogs and ice on tap, this is not the place for you.
The lack of 24 hour power was ideal for us as it supported our intentional “disconnect”. The generator kicked in reliably each evening and we were able to get devices charged and do a quick email check. The ceiling fan, along with keeping the blinds open at night kept us cool and we weren’t plagued by mosquitoes like we were on other islands. The bed was comfortable and the room clean. Again, if you want air-con and a fridge in your room, this is not the place for you.

Although the airport transfers were both smooth and efficient, we would have preferred to have them included in the price as this is more inline with other resorts and would have removed the ambiguity of “are we supposed to pay the driver” which we felt when we first arrived.

There were issues with the water pressure during our stay which meant water was only a dribble in the shower when we first arrived. These were not the fault of the resort and were part of the charm / experience but should be noted. They were apparently due to issues with the filtration system at the government plant. The toilet flushed fine once the cistern had re-filled.

We did the free cave tour (lots of talking by our friendly, local guide) and walked the railway line (no longer used other than by a tourist bike tour which looked like fun). We paddled but never swam off the beach as it didn’t look easy to navigate through the rocks/shallow coral. You need reef shoes.
For us this was a great place to decompress as a stopping-point to the other islands.
