Nice Place and Awesome Staff

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 23 Apr 2019
We spent 6 nights at Tambua and we had a fantastic time there, Tambua is quiet and nice. Despite the fact that with my wife we don't speak English, staff were very helpful and welcoming. The only thing to improve is to renovate toilets as they look old.

I had a fantastic holiday with my 2 children, 13 and 11 years, at Tambua Sands.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They provided me with a wheelchair as is broken my leg 2 weeks prior to traveling. And they made sure I had everything I needed.
Great value for money with a fabulous breakfast. Friends have stayed elsewhere and were much more expensive.
The resort is a long way from anywhere and the taxi is expensive but the public bus system is actually pretty good, and air conditioned! There are locals selling BBQ and hot corn nearby.
The snorkling out from the resort is pretty good, but my kids also did the guided marine park snorkling nearby which was well worth it, like swimming in a tropical fish tank. We went to Kula Adventure Park one day where the kids loved the hydro-slide and ziplining as well as the animals.
Sigatoka was a busy town about 20 minutes away with a big market. Worth a day trip which they run from the resort a couple days a week.
This was a magnificent place to go with a family. I highly recommend it. It would have been better with a rental car, but then you pay a lot for that.

We spent 10 nights at Tambua on our last visit and was heart broken at the thought of leaving to come back to Nz.. If I was to sum up in one word what makes Tambua the perfect holiday destination it would be "family". You may arrive as a guest but you leave as a family member. Everyone you encounter has a smile on there face and a friendly BULA on their lips . I love fact that it is a smaller resort, however it is perfect for doing as much or as little as you like.. There are two tours desks that can help you plan an amazing day out no matter what you dream up.

The food is good with plenty of range and the bar is well stocked and they offer delivery to the poolside.. I have been travelling to FIJI since I was 6 years old and I truly believe that they have the best team anywhere,, nothing is to much trouble. A highlight would be coming into the room after Celia from house keeping had been in there and she had left some amazing flower arrangements on the bed.. what a nice surprise.
The team will go out of their way to make sure that you have the best possible time no matter if it is in there job description or not.. They are never to busy to stop and have a yarn no matter what time of the day or night it is.. We have been there for 2 rugby sevens tournaments and we had ball watch the matches with the team, Even when New Zealand lost .

The best moment of our last visit was when we went to check out and the entire team gathered around and sung the Fijian farewell song Isa Lei.. Brought a tear to our eyes

As sunny always say we never say goodbye it is always until we meet again

Room tip: seaside is amazing

This place has awesome staff who provide a variety of activities. They go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay.

Any hut provides you with the wonder of nodding off to the sound of the waves.

If you need time to stop, log off and tap into Fiji time.

We spent 5 nights at Tambua Sands. It’s a small friendly hotel where you feel part of the Fijian family. Staff are from local villages and whilst friendly and relaxed they are also very professional. It was a quiet time at the resort and we often had the beach to ourselves. We stayed in the honeymoon suite with plunge pool. A/C comfort and bifold doors out to plunge pool metres from beach where we snorkelled at our leisure on the high tide. Lots of fish, coral, starfish etc. paddles out on resorts kayak and view back to the beach with the green hills behind was beautiful. We attended a wedding at a nearby larger resort and were glad to return to our little piece of paradise. Thanks to staff for a lovely stay - oh and great coffee too!

We stayed for 7 nights. The staff were so friendly and because this is a small resort (26 rooms) it was perfect for relaxing and just enjoying the surroundings. We started in a beachfront Bure with 1 double and 2 single beds which was comfortable but are a little tired although they are starting to do them up. We upgraded to a Beachfront pool bure, one of only 2. This was fabulous with a modern bathroom, aircon and very comfy king bed.Outside is a small plunge pool and sitting are with sun lounge and sofa. We had our anniversary dinner here on our last night and the staff decorated it and made it a really special night.
We snorkelled every day just 20 ft from our room at all sorts of times of day and saw lots of fish, which was perfect but best to take your own gear and reef shoes.
The manager Mr Tamarni only started that week and already is making changes to sort out some of the areas that have been slightly neglected, and make it an even better guest experience.
For what you get at Tambua compared to other resorts for your money makes is ideal but don't go here is you want a tv and lots of noise and lots of stuff happening, but do if you want to relax and chill out.
The staff are what make this place special, they remember you by name and are so lovely, Big thanks especially to Tui, Sunny, Nancy and Visili.

Room tip: Book the beachfront plunge pool Bure via the hotels website as it doesn't appear on lots of travel websites.
