My partner and I got married in Fiji in the Outrigger resort at the end of 2017, and most of my close family members stayed at the Heavensdoor for the week.
The house is beautiful and very spacious, and the view from up there is amazing. Very near the beach, and only a few minutes drive away from the Outrigger resort and a strip of restaurants and hotels, it's in a convenient location on the Coral Coast.
Scott was a very helpful host, and it was nice to know that my family was in good hands while we were focusing on the wedding.
One thing to note is that a 4-wheel drive is strongly recommended as the path to the house is quite steep.
We organised the New Year Eve dinner at the Heavensdoor with our 30+ guests and it was a blast. Scott organised the food for everyone, the Fijian feast, which was really good.
Definitely recommend, especially for big groups/families, as staying in a house has a much more homely feel that hotels just can't offer. As we were leaving, my mum was already speaking of renting the house again within the next couple of years to spend a family holiday, and she leaves at the other side of the world!
Wonderful service from Scott from the moment we arrived! We had 9 adults and 3 children in our group, arriving from Sydney for a wedding at the Warwick nearby. It was absolutely perfect for us! Beautiful property, clean and lots of warm homey touches to make us feel comfortable and welcome. Scott had laid out the place perfectly to suit us all (4 couples, one of which had a new born bub and two toddlers). Scott made sure we knew our way around, and even gave us the option of a Fijian feast in the home! We absolutely loved our stay, and highly recommend it to all!
Absolutely fantastic propriety , in a top location!
Stunning Coral Coast views.
Definitely feels like you are on Heavens Door.
Well appointed interiors, beautiful local art design and very well maintained driveway.
Tips: Keep your eyes on the Sunrise and Sunset.
Will definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.
Our family of 8 stayed at Heavensdoor villa in September. Firstly the pros:
# Great view as described photos don't do it justice great to wake up to each morning and watch sun set
# Good house with everything needed, plenty of space which is helpful for larger families or groups
# House in good condition
# Host is friendly and helpful
# biggest con is driveway is dangerous (in our opinion). The house is situated on top of a mountain/ large hill hence the views. The driveway is long, steep and has a steep drop off the side. It was unsealed and coved in pebbles which made it hard to get traction and felt dangerous. We busted a tire on our rental vehicle trying to get up it (hiace van). Made a further attempt got stuck and had to reverse down (very very scary) rest of the trip we had to park at the bottom and hike up which was hard work and meant that we had to stay out all day to avoid doing the hike too often. I recommend if you stay here to rent a 4WD as the host advises, but even then I would only recommend for experienced and confident 4WD drivers. The host has indicated he intends to redo the driveway in coming months- if the driveway can be sealed it will make a massive difference to the property for the better.
#master bedroom doesn't have curtains or blinds so it gets very hot and bright when sun comes up in the morning (there is also no aircon)
# charged $15 per wash to use the washing machine is a lot - I have stayed in airbnb type places all over the world and never charged to use the washing machine.
# booking payment is done through 3 international cash transfer payments rather than securely through TripAdvisor or airbnb or PayPal which means we had to pay 3 lots of bank charges and worried about security of payment. Needn't have worried as Scott is very trustworthy but a secure payment option should be available.
#property is not walking distance to any dining shops or restaurants so you will need a car to travel out for all meals - and will need to tackle the driveway to do so.
Overall I think it is a nice place, I would recommend for people who are experienced 4WD drivers and who would like to stay in the home and self cater.
Heaven's Door is perched on a hill with amazing views of the sea. This is a great family-friendly home with stunning grounds and vegetation. Enjoying the ocean breeze and relaxing on the lovely patio was the best. We especially enjoyed going to Sigatoka Town for produce and our Fijian Feast prepared for us at the house. Just wonderful! Scott, the owner, was always available if we needed anything. Our boys, 7 & 10, were so happy exploring and playing on the grounds. An amazing experience for all of us...hope to return!
