Feel like an insider with this "secret" place to tell all your friends about

Review of Beach Cocomo
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 Jan 2018
As other reviews have stated, this place really makes you feel welcome -- Fiji style.

There are many thoughtful touches in the property -- for one thing, they are the only property I stayed at in Fiji that had a rack outside to dry swimwear on. It astounds me that everyone doesn't do this, given that a primary reason to go to Fiji is to get wet!

They also provide beach towels to use on the beach (which is basically almost all to yourself -- another plus). The decor feels authentic -- the whole vibe is very much one of staying with friends. There is even a stray cat that will charm you completely.

The beach was fun to explore and the water was very pleasant to relax in. The comfy furnishings on the deck and the beautiful landscaping made that space "fiji time" worthy, too..

Only one small note: If you are sound-sensitive, bring earplugs in case of road noise. (With a sound wall, some air conditioning, and a "fancier" bathroom, this place could easily triple the price it is charging -- but then again, that would also change the feel of the place)

Also, you must treat yourself to the amazing dinner (which could easily cost upward of $200 in a US city, or be worth one of those Yountville-style journeys). My meal was served in a beautiful sandy outdoor area by the beach (the need for bug spray was well worth the setting)

The food was freshly prepared, wonderfully presented, with unique and delicious combinations worthy of a Michelin star! Marie also explains each dish as she presents them. The best food I had in Fiji -- and in the top 5 of food I have *ever* had anywhere.

In short: it is very much worth staying here for a night to experience the dinner and the hospitality -- you will feel like a Fijian in no time!

We inadvertently stumbled upon this little gem while considering visiting Vanuatu over the Festive season (there is a property there with the same name). I called Marie straight away and luckily they still had the larger cottage available. And what a find this was! Marie and Isao are delightful hosts and with only two cottages on the property we were assured of the peace and quiet that we prefer. Marie is also a fantastic cook and we dined at the small restaurant on the property almost every night. Isao helped us with securing a 4WD rental which proved to be a challenge due to the high season. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and will definitely return when we are next in Fiji.

A wonderful host and great staff working beside her. It feels like returning home to visit family. Marie prepares amazing food including Fijian dishes with a difference that she has adopted from her homeland. The dining area is a great place to sit and relax at anytime of the day, as is the nearby beach. Beach Cocomo is well priced. Don't let the proximity to the road put you off, it is relatively quiet overnight

Wow this place was the best place I've been to in Fiji!

Marie was so lovely and accomodating for myself, my husband and our 9 month old twins :-)

We also got to meet one of her workers Junior and his beautiful Fijian family :-) our babies and their babies played together and had lots of fun :-)

We loved it so much here we came back a few nights later and had a delicious 3 course meal specially prepared for us and it was honestly the best meal I've ever had in my life!

Highly recommend this place and we will be back for sure :-)

I stayed here with my partner for our surfing escape. Never before I experience this kind of hospitality. Genuine, Friendly, Peaceful and Personal! Beautifully decorated and so close to the beach. I feel sad when we have to leave. We will come back again next year for sure! Vinaka vakalevu!
