Authentic Fijian Experience

Review of Beach Cocomo
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 28 Aug 2016via mobile
I cannot say enough good things about my stay at Beach Cocomo.
Even though Marie was away, Manu, Titi and Iva went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and fun!

Titi and Iva made us amazing authentic Fijian food (which I have been trying to copy since my return home).

We shared some great laughs over cards and kava and had an experience we will never forget.

We will definitely be back and recommending to everyone!

We were delighted to pull into the driveway of Cocomo to explore, only to find a Fijian utopia, just off the main highway! Cocomo is a gorgeous acre or so of land, right on the beach, in immaculate grounds, with 2 Bures to rent and a divine traditional looking sand floored Bure, which serves as a restaurant. We instantly fell in love. We were met by a super friendly Fijian man who with his wife lives on site and seems to be gardener, fisherman, and general caretaker of the place. He is clearly doing an amazing job, because the place is divine!! Gorgeous garden, wonderful Bures with small balconies overlooking the gardens and the ocean. The food in the restaurant is cooked by a Korean chef, who with her Japanese surfing instructor husband, own the place and make a great team. We had a 5 course meal of her choice with gorgeous sushi, a wonderful lentil dish, they cooked some coral trout abd Rock cod that we had caught that too. All was wonderfully executed and super tasty, all eaten while staring out the open windows to the gorgeous view, it could not have been better. They also have 2 gorgeous little dogs, one a rowdy puppy and the other a demure white pup. They weren't around the 2 times we came for supper, but when I first visited the gardens and had an official tour, they ran along side us being cute and friendly.
The restaurant only serves water and lovely home made lemonade, but who doesn't love bring your own restaurants anyway?
I'm delighted that such a business exists and that we found it made a real difference to our stay on the Coral Coast, we will definitely be back next year, with friends!

I had a wonderful 3 days at Beach Cocomo. The atmosphere: laid-back. The food: amazing. The beach: secluded. The room: beautiful. The place is very well maintained, and the beach is very quiet. Frequently, I was the only person on the beach, making it like I had my own private beach. There are only 2 bungalows, so it is very peaceful (not like the busy resorts with people and children running around everywhere). Good place to just hang around swimming, reading, eating, chilling out.

As other reviewers have said, you can hear the highway nearby in the rooms. But I sleep with earplugs, so it didn't bother me.

Room tip: Both bungalows are nice, and located in the same place, so little difference apart from size

Marie and Isao you rock! Thanks so much for a great stay. Everything about Beach Cocomo was great - the food is incredible, there are hot showers(!), your staff are so friendly and helpful (thanks Manu for the guava leaves and getting the young coconut for us), and the houses are so comfortable.
We had such a lovely time snorkeling for hours on end on that safe beach. We had fun in Sigatoka and the bus trip there and back was fun for us, especially the kids. Also thank you for organising the taxis to Nadi - a better option for Mark who was feeling pretty queasy by then.
We loved Beach Cocomo and would love to come back one day.
    Vinaka vakalevu!

Room tip: Bure Loloma is bigger than Bure Marau and has a huge bed, but both are good. Traffic noise annoying, but it's Fiji - so not constant noise.

We stayed at this wonderful place for four nights and enjoyed the outstanding fresh, healthy, beautifully arranged and extremly tasteful dishes in a cosy beach hut set in a tropical garden. We are grateful that we could taste the unique cooking style of Mary with a big variaty of local and asian meals in regard to my wish to exclude meat. Thank you Mary, Isao, Eva and Manu for this awesome stay at Cocomo!

This was an affordable, authentic and relaxed style of accommodation which was an amazing choice for me. Upon contacting Beach Cocomo with my 100 questions they were very prompt in responding and happy to answer all my questions informatively and honestly. The service was 10/10, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Always happy to have a chat and give knowledge and advice on the area.

I stayed in the smaller bungalow, large enough to accommodate 3 people. It was cosy, clean, basic and had everything I needed. The bungalow is surrounded by a beautifully well maintained garden full of tropical flowers and trees. Don't expect modern or fancy, if you're looking for more casual chilled cabin style then this is perfect! The inside is very clean and cute. The cabin is complete with wooden floors, walls and ceiling, with an antique style touch to the furnishings. It feels very homey and inviting. There's a small fridge, a kettle and the housekeeping is done daily with fresh towels each day.

Just past the garden, the bungalow overlooks the beautiful Aqua blue coral reef. The beach was very clean and full of life! I was the only one on the beach most of the time so it's nice and private and quiet. Just be mindful that because this part of the coast is full of coral and sea life the sand is covered with lots of dried coral that's been washed up, so bring reef shoes with you. This accommodation was in the perfect location for me. It was away from the hustle and bustle of the main touristic areas, on its own hill on the side of a main road that's a 15min drive into Sigatoka Town. Although it is near a road there isn't much noise from where the bungalow is, the only time I could hear cars driving was at night, but it didn't bother me much anyway.

Beach Cocomo has its own beach front restaurant, this was the best food I have eaten in Fiji! Marie is very dedicated to serving Fijian food with a modern twist that's so delicious. Sometimes she incorporates an Asian fusion in her food, this was amazing! They source the freshest ingredients and serve it in a cool beach hut style restaurant with sand on the floor, overlooking the gorgeous beach. Marie cooked something different for dinner each night for me, I felt like I had my own personal chef! Everything was substantial and wholesome. To have Marie serve breakfast/lunch/dinner I needed to give her notice so she could prepare everything fresh. I ate breakfast there each morning and it was so tasty and nutritious.

I absolutely LOVED this place, it's such a hidden gem and I can't wait to visit again!
