Adequate transit accommodation.

We recently stayed at the Mercure Nadi both before and after our outer island vacation.

Simply put, the Mercure Nadi is adequate as a transit hotel but would not recommend staying there any longer than a night or two. Its accommodation is tired. The rooms while clean, smelled musty on entering and they really need a full revamp (that doesn’t involve just slapping paint on as they have very obviously done in the past). There is no water provided in the rooms so make sure you purchase some to brush your teeth with etc.
Whilst we didn’t dine there at night, the meals we saw being served up looked good, and the breakfast buffet was really good. The bar staff at night could do with further training. The concierge staff were all very good and very helpful.

I’m glad to hear that you found our rooms clean and that you enjoyed the breakfast buffet, as well as the helpful service from our concierge team.
Please allow me to correct the point in regards to "no water provided in the rooms" for the sake of our Trip Advisor readers. Water is provided in all our guest rooms for brushing your teeth, bathing and even to drink etc. If you desire to have bottled water, you could purchase it from our Bar at a cost of FJD$6-10, which comes in 600ml and 1.5 litre bottles.
I am sorry to learn that some aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. We sincerely apologize for any discomfort caused by the room condition and musty smell and your comments about the need for refurbishment are noted.
Please rest assured that we are actively reviewing ways to improve the overall guest experience.
We also appreciate your feedback regarding the bar staff training and will be addressing this to ensure all of our guests receive the best possible service.

Its not as bad as others say it is.

I was a bit apprehensive when I read the latest review about how bad it was. The public areas were nice and staff friendly and accommodating. When we got to room 329, I almost contemplated checking out. The bed was awful - it was soft and we could feel the springs. I have travelled in far west Queensland and NSW and know how bad motels can be, but at least the bed was always firm. We were too tired and somehow slept through the night. In the broad day light, it wasn't too bad. We slept ok the next night and the next night. Our bodies found the not jutting out springs part. The gardens were nice and there were hammocks under shade you could escape to. Breakfast was fine. There was local food too. I had fried long beans with lentil soup and rice one morning and the next fried rice. The egg station was popular, and you had the usual breads, cereals. We ate once in the restaurant, and it was quite good. Best of all, the coffee was $5:50 and strong. Restaurants (including chinese, japanese and korean) and shops/supermarkets within a few minutes' walk so you could get variety. There is a Rosie's tour desk which was really helpful. Yes, it is more a outback motel standard than what you would expect from the "Mercure" brand. Having stayed at the Gateway, if I was in Nadi for more than a stopover, the Mercure is a much more convenient hotel but check that the bed is firm.

Room tip: Do not accept room 329 unless they have changed the mattress.

Make the most of it

Ok listen up, read the reviews BUT go in with an open mind. This place is dated but it is what you make it. It is much cheaper than most other places in Nadi but we had a great time. The rooms did what we needed, no they weren’t updated recently but also who cares. They were kinda nostalgic and made me smile at their simplicity. The buffet bfast again got the job done and was tasty. Staff were good, the security even took my friends to 2 pubs across the road to look after them and they made sure we were making good choices. Eroni was a gem. The lady singing on Friday & Saturday night was just SENSATIONAL! Great pina coladas and Kokoda (pizzas smelt amazing too).
Not 5 star but also not the worst- it is what u make it. Thanks Mercure Nadi

Avoid if you can

After staying five nights at a luxurious resort the Mercure Nadi required an emotional adjustment. We booked here because we were flying out early the next morning. When we checked in, we were advised the AC wasn’t working and they would give us a fan instead. But didn’t we pay for a hotel WITH an AC? No form of compensation was offered. A discounted tariff or at least a drink voucher? The rooms were clean but very “old,” fortunately the fan worked but we couldn’t sleep with the windows open because it felt unsafe, and people were smoking on the balconies. We had a look at the breakfast before we checked out and it looked very ordinary. The staff were all very kind, but they didn’t ask if we enjoyed our stay when we checked out. I guess they expected we might complain. This hotel is not of Mercure standard. It is very expensive for this standard. Management should be ashamed.

Dreadful unsafe dive. Avoid!

Crap Hotel with pointless security. I stayed here for one night then thankfully was moved by my employer. It is opposite a brothel. I left my hotel and went for dinner. On the way back I was asked by a street hooker if I required her services. I politely declined and carried on to the hotel. 20 seconds after arriving in my room at the dreadful Mercure I heard a knock at the door. It was said prostitute who then tried to enter my room. I slammed the door and she repeatedly tried to gain entry. With knocks and protestations. Shaking the door on its rusty hinges. Eventually she got bored and left but this was my and fellow colleagues experience of this dive. Save yourselves the price of disappointment and book somewhere else. Also breakfast is a cheap frankfurter and a shiddy egg. If you stay here you have been warned. If you like ho’s then go for it but for the rest of us, avoid!!
