Our family of four, two adults and two toddlers, just recently returned from a trip to Fiji. We left the United States October 16 and returned October 24. Our travel was booked by Viva Travel for a large wedding party, as I am the daughter of the groom and my two littles were the flower girls, with travelers coming from different parts of the world. Our flights were with American Airlines and Fiji Airlines. Our journey took us to Nadi where we initially stayed at the Fiji Gateway Hotel, transferred to Port Denarau Marina by private vehicle by Epic Transfers and Tours Fiji to board the South Sea Cruises, that transported us to Mana Island Resort & Spa owned by the Japanese property investment firm, Rex Holdings Pty Ltd. for our stay. We did take a private day cruise with our entire group with Coral Cats Sailing.
To start with, as long as the flights were, both ways, I highly recommend using Fiji Airways as their level of service, is above par for any airline we have state side. American Airlines was not terrible, but they were more interested in making sure that their business class was comfy. There was never this feeling with Fiji Airlines as they made it a point of service that everyone felt important.
After the flight, we arrived in Nadi where we stayed at the Fiji Gateway Hotel for one night. We wanted to get our girls in the pool while we waited for our room and as we had other members of our wedding group there, we were able to take a breath in their room before making our way to the pool. My only issue with this place is that the tile around the pool was slippery when wet, as it is not sandstone, some other type of course material to prevent slipping, or rubber matting. Our oldest took a spill on the deck and hit the back of her head. It was rather minor, but would not have happened if the proper pool deck materials were in place. All the rooms floors are also all tile that is polished. This I under stand for the convenience to clean, but again, you are a hotel located in a tropical location full of swimming options. The food was very tasty I am not able to speak on their drinks as we did not have any here as we were still recovering from jet lag and had our two littles.
