Comfortable with some hiccups

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 2 Nov 2023via mobile
Clean rooms . Very friendly staff. Rooms are very comfortable and upgraded.

Unfortunately there are no Wi-Fi available to the rooms, you’d need to pay for it. However they are available free in the lobby which is not efficient.

There are no elevators you’d need to drag your suit case up and down the stairs if you stayed up stairs.

It is far from town so difficult to find food that is affordable, the restaurant is over priced

We were very impressed with the Fiji Gateway Hotel. It was clean, tidy, modern and well maintained. The shuttle to the airport was complimentary. Which was a bonus. It had 2 lovely swimming pools and the gardens were lovely. The food at the restaurant was yummy. I highly recommend the Fiji Gateway Hotel.

Room tip: We wished we had stayed an extra night at the Gateway so we could have explored Nadi.

Our overnight stay was pleasant at the Gateway Hotel which is a motel style hotel and directly across the road from the airport.

Check in was time consuming as they had no keys for anyones rooms. Apparently the story was a group of people who stayed previously had lost their keys or not returned them so they ran out of keys. We were eventually shown to our room and when we want to return to our room we had to get staff to open the door which wasn't ideal but it was just for one night (some guests were very unhappy without a key). Lack of supply of keys isn't ideal for such a popular and busy hotel. Our room was comfortable and pleasant although the light from the air conditioner was so bright that it didn't darken the room enough at night which affected my sleep (needed to cover it up but a/c was too high up).

The food here was good, staff were lovely, the pools and gardens were lovely. We didnt get breakfast here. If you have a lot of luggage request a ground floor room as there are no lifts.

Our family of four, two adults and two toddlers, just recently returned from a trip to Fiji. We left the United States October 16 and returned October 24. Our travel was booked by Viva Travel for a large wedding party, as I am the daughter of the groom and my two littles were the flower girls, with travelers coming from different parts of the world. Our flights were with American Airlines and Fiji Airlines. Our journey took us to Nadi where we initially stayed at the Fiji Gateway Hotel, transferred to Port Denarau Marina by private vehicle by Epic Transfers and Tours Fiji to board the South Sea Cruises, that transported us to Mana Island Resort & Spa owned by the Japanese property investment firm, Rex Holdings Pty Ltd. for our stay. We did take a private day cruise with our entire group with Coral Cats Sailing.

To start with, as long as the flights were, both ways, I highly recommend using Fiji Airways as their level of service, is above par for any airline we have state side. American Airlines was not terrible, but they were more interested in making sure that their business class was comfy. There was never this feeling with Fiji Airlines as they made it a point of service that everyone felt important.

After the flight, we arrived in Nadi where we stayed at the Fiji Gateway Hotel for one night. We wanted to get our girls in the pool while we waited for our room and as we had other members of our wedding group there, we were able to take a breath in their room before making our way to the pool. My only issue with this place is that the tile around the pool was slippery when wet, as it is not sandstone, some other type of course material to prevent slipping, or rubber matting. Our oldest took a spill on the deck and hit the back of her head. It was rather minor, but would not have happened if the proper pool deck materials were in place. All the rooms floors are also all tile that is polished. This I under stand for the convenience to clean, but again, you are a hotel located in a tropical location full of swimming options. The food was very tasty I am not able to speak on their drinks as we did not have any here as we were still recovering from jet lag and had our two littles.

Room tip: Be cautious of the slippery tile covering the property.

What a little gem! We stayed here on the way back from the coral coast, before an early flight out in the morning. The rooms are recently renovated, clean, spacious and well appointed.

The king beds are super comfy! Our daughter loved the water slide and pool and the staff are warm and lovely!

We ate at the restaurant twice, both times very happy. Highly recommend the cheesecake!

The grounds are well maintained and the resort never seems over crowded.

For a 3 star hotel, it is really punching above its weight! We will definitely stay at the Fiji Gateway again!

Bed was sooo comfortable. Pool was awesome and the iced chocolates at the little cafe by the pool (by the restaurant) are to die for! Restaurant food fairly priced with good servings and very tasty. We were a group of two families with 10 of us all up. We came with teens / young adults from 12 years to 24 years old. Everyone found something good to eat and everyone enjoyed their meals. Hand to the airport. Could easily walk with rolling luggage to hotel from airport.
Downside - we were told on arrival to be at reception at 10am for our transfer to the ferry at Denarau .. we arrived at 10am and were told that the ferry left at 10am, and thus missed our ferry to the island. At least 5 of us heard the conversation at the desk at check in, yet we were told the next morning we wouldnt have been told that. We then had to wait until 1.30pm for another shuttle and missed a good half a day on the island. None of us were happy about this at all.

Room tip: IF you come in on the early flight, you will not be able to get into your room until the check in time . Be prepared to spend day by pool
