We did like this hotel and I would return here as well. The only drawbacks to it have also been noted by others. The sound does echo here really badly. Fortunately there was only one other group there while we were staying there, and they were by no means loud. However when they came in you really knew they did. We stayed in a room that was on the street, and we had read it was loud. We both brought ear plugs so we were prepared for it, but if you weren't it could ruin your sleep. Breakfast was incredibly basic and next time I would skip that and just go somewhere and pay. Having said that, it was an excellent price, good shower pressure with hot water, decent wifi and a comfy bed.

We loved staying at Hostal La Posada Cuencana! The location is extremely convenient. It is a short ride to the airport. The hotel is in walking distance to several artesian shops, restaurants, and historic sites. The rooms are very clean with updated bathrooms, and breakfast is served every morning. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful.

We spent two nights here, it was a nice room with a loft with two extra beds, the breakfast was nice and the folks who were at the desk were plenty nice. The location is also fantastic, only a few blocks from the main plaza. Just a note, the room No. 1 that we had had a shelf for the TV that was right at head height so watch-out.

This is a converted colonial mansion with all the charm you would expect from it's history. Much of it has been wonderfully restored and/or designed to be a quite lovely. There are a few drawbacks, however.

The two issues I had were that the rooms not facing the street have no outward facing windows and no ventilation. That said, the rooms can get quite stuffy with two people in them. The solution is to open in the inward facing window, but of course you lose a bit of privacy as the other guests could walk right past the open window on the way to and from their rooms. Also, and this was mentioned by others, the hot water. One night, the hot water was just non existent. The rest of the time, though, it was AMAZING and powerful. Best shower I had in Ecuador by far. So while I wouldn't worry about the hot water per se, keep in mind it may be an issue.

Other than those two relatively minor issues, this place is highly recommended. Service was exceptional and so was the breakfast. You will feel very safe and cared for here.

The colonial look of this place is great. It's a great atmosphere, quiet, with friendly staff. The breakfast is really good. Rooms were clean, shower and sink bad hot water!

Only complaint is that we got two beds and the room was quite small. Oddly, some of the singles were way bigger and could have easily accommodated two beds. Also the room had no fan and only a window that opened to the hallway. Normally Cuenca's weather is pretty cool, but it would have been nice to have some air circulation.

Anyway, great place, highly recommend, especially if you only need a single bed.
