Great but no “deals”

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 May 2024
The hotel is incredibly comfortable and the staff is wonderful. I do want to note that they do have a small fitness room with a bike machine, two treadmills and an elliptical plus small weights and TRX straps. I could find no reference to it on their website.

And my only minus star was because they offer you “deals” via email before you arrive and I requested an early check in at a discounted rate. Upon arrival I was informed they would not honor that price and it was only a “request.” I paid full price. So don’t bother with those “deals.”

Located in a trendy area of Santiago and very close to the line 1 metro stop of University Catolica this is a great place to spend some time in Santiago. The rooms are spacious and the beds super comfortable. Upper floor rooms have views of the city skyline and the Andes mountains.

Breakfast is served from 7am weekdays, and 8am at weekends, from the top floor breakfast bar which is next to the swimming pool and has great views of the city and the mountains. Breakfast is self-service with a wide-range of hot and cold dishes. Someone who is gluten-free will find plenty to eat.

A few other things to be aware of. There is a hotel restaurant but it is not open at weekends, although there are plenty of dining options in the streets around the hotel. The area is trendy and popular and the rooms not sound-proof but the external noise from music etc does die down late evening. Last, the ergonomics of the bathroom area in the room we stayed in were a little strange. The separate toilet has a door that can't be opened if someone is also stood in front of the washbasin unless that person moves out of the way. Also, the toilet is where the fresh towels are stored, not the shower area or area around the washbasin.

The staff were friendly and would recommend as a place to stay in Santiago.

First morning at the hotel we stopped at the front desk and asked Daniel a question, which turned into a conversation, which resulted in Daniel recommending places to eat and other places to visit, providing directions, setting up reservations; then the same the next day. Really enhanced our visit to Santiago and we are looking forward to staying there again. We loved the neighborhood, eating at Le Bistro Viet and Bocanariz are Highly Recommended. Subway great to get around. As with Argentina the friendliness and helpfulness of the people was remarkable.

I loved the Hotel Cumbres Lastarria. The neighborhood is terrific and the rooms were very nice. (I had also considered staying in Bellavista, but was very happy about my Lastarria decision!) Breakfast was delicious and in a beautiful room. What makes me so effusively love this hotel is the staff! I, like many others I've since heard of, had the pleasure of having my cell phone stolen - out of my hand - on day 1 in Chile and at that point, I hadn't yet met up with my tour. The staff was AMAZINGLY helpful, kind and supportive. Augustine, as well as his colleagues, were truly wonderful. I don't know what I would have done without them!

This hotel is situated in the perfect location in the Lastarria neighbourhood. Some fantastic restaurants steps from the front door and a great bakery too if you are not into buffet breakfast (the one provided by the hotel was good though). Hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating. The room was spacious and very clean. Definitely would recommend if travelling to Santiago.

Overall, this was a comfortable hotel. The best parts were the location and helpful staff. The location is in the midst of lots of restaurants, cafes and shops as well as street performers and people selling arts and crafts.

We enjoyed exploring the area. Saint Lucia Hill is only minutes away and offers great views of the city. (Though be careful, the steep and uneven steps can be treacherous.)

The bed was comfortable, wifi good--though one has to log in frequently--water pressure good and the room was quiet. Staff were helpful when we asked about restaurants and directions.

Breakfast was okay. Nothing special. The coffee from the carafes was not very good, however, there is a machine that makes decent coffee.

Not aware of a hotel restaurant or bar. Whenever we walked by the entry area the bar was always empty of people--customers or staff. We never asked about it as there are great restaurants closeby.

The negatives were very dim lighting in the room and the "open concept" bathroom which consists of semi-opaque glass between shower and toilet and a semi-opaque glass partition between bathroom area and bed area. In other words, there is very little privacy.
