Well run by enthusiastic couple. Large rooms and good ensuite. Tasty three course evening meals.
Very good tour with Alan of both wildlife and military sites. Stayed two nights as part of Falklands tour. Alan met us at the airport.

We had booked a night at Darwin house following our arrival from Santiago as our itinerary included a transfer flight to Carcass Island the next day. We wish we had planned to stay longer in Darwin. The accommodation was superb with top quality bedding and toiletries and our room had a wonderful view over the surrounding area. Lorraine met us at Mount Pleasant airport and on arrival at Darwin house we were introduced to Al and the other staff. They are superb hosts. The food was excellent and the honesty bar well stocked and very reasonably priced. There was a really comfortable lounge for relaxing in during the evening. Coffee and tea was available all day. As our flight did not leave till the next afternoon we had time for a circular walk to Goose Green following an excellent hand drawn map of the area provided by Al. Although we enjoyed all the meals and accommodation in Stanley and on the other islands we visited during our stay in the Falklands, Darwin House was definitely the best.

I stayed at Darwin House for two nights while touring the Falklands. After flying into the Goose Green airstrip, I was met by Michelle and Tenesor, who drove me back to the Lodge.

My room at the lodge was very comfortable, with an ensuite bathroom.
The lodge has a large and comfortable living room, dining room and well-stocked honor bar. All of my meals at the lodge were delicious (photos below).

Al gave me a full day Falklands war tour of the area. He was extremely knowledgeable and really brought the history of the area alive with his commentary.

Al, Lorraine, Michelle and Tenesor were all extremely friendly and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely return.

A pleasure to stay with Lorraine & Al here last week. Everything has improved since they came. Take the tour with Al he knows the area well and is a good host. Lorraine can cook! - very well. In fact best food in over 2 weeks touring. Comfortable beds, room a bit small but bathroom large and good quality. Lots of books re islands to read in lounges -100% recommendation. I cannot fault my time here!

Room tip: Take the tour with Al he knows the area

You will be greeted by friendly management and staff who, quite honestly, cannot do enough to ensure your comfort. The range of cakes included in your first 'smoko' are all homemade and delicious! The rooms are spacious with en suite showers etc. Every room has a wide open view of the surrounding country (locally known as the camp) or of the huge empty harbour - no noisy traffic or boats or airplanes here, just acres of open spaces and fresh air. Dinner is spectacular with the expected friendly service and there is also an honesty bar. When you wake up fully refreshed, there will a sumptuous breakfast of your choosing - I recommend the full English!

Room tip: East or North facing rooms will give your room the full benefit of sunshine.

I was treated to a room night stay by my partner which was a lovely surprise.
We were greeted by the manager on arrival and shown to our room which had a lovely view over the water. There are no coffee or tea making facilities in the rooms but we were told a 24 hrs service was available in the dining room. Bottled water was supplied 'free of charge' as the water is not drinkable.
Evening meal was onion soup, goulash with baby potatoes, cabbage and green beans. A dessert made with what we discovered to be a chocolate digestive, artificial cream and a chocolate sauce with a bit of sponge cake made the 3rd course.
We booked breakfast for 0800 the following day.
Breakfast was very bland. The bacon was undercooked and the sausages were like they had been reheated and had a crust on them. It was eventually served at 0830.
We had a lovely day out in the 'camp' visiting Bodie Creek Bridge amongst other places.
On return to the house we went to the room to freshen up for our evening meal. Our room had not been touched. The beds were still in the 'pulled over' state we left them. No resupplies of water or toiletries. There was no sign of anyone on reception to speak to.
We went into the 'honesty bar' and had a drink. The bar had not been cleaned from the previous day apart from the empties box.
Evening meal was a pastry parcel stuffed with feta cheese and stewed onions! (from the previous days soup) a dish with consisted of a filling of goulash topped with crushed baby potatoes and cabbage with carrots. Dessert was frozen berries in a crushed meringue cases and artificial cream. The berries were used at breakfast...
The following morning I went down for coffees to find there was no milk and no one around to ask for some.
I was very specific about having breakfast at 0800 as we were meeting someone at San Carlos and had to leave on time. The waiter greeted us at 0755 and took our order. He said the breakfast would be 5 mins as the bacon was being cooked fresh...!
All very disappointing a and spoilt an amazing trip
