ROMANTIC night cruise in historic river ! Transported back 500 years. Red lanterns all along river. Shops, eateries, souveniors sellers all round in the pedestrian street. Good law and order , well lit, whole area
carefully done to preserve historical theme and look.
Confucius Temple ( Open till 8 pm ) and Imperial Examination College with it's big underground exhibits and lush gardens must be visited in daytime to see the stunning underground architecture. This is to keep the historic buildings intact . Must See. Your kids will appreciate their education system after that.

Eateries sell v similar stuff. But try the duck blood cube with glass / crystal noodle made from beans. V healthy.

There was so much to see along this river and on the trail. It was so fun to ride bikes down it and be in the middle of the city but still feel like you are in nature. I would definitely recommend going. Oh and pro tip... the yellow, blue, and orange bikes all around town are unlocked sometimes. I know its not the most honest thing to do but.. we dont have alipay or service on our cell phones so sometimes you just gotta haha. So if you need to find bikes and actually look around the city- especially by subway stops- you will find them :)

This river is a tributary river of Yangtze River, 110km long, runs through central Nanjing. The scenic belt along the river develops with the Confucius Temple at the center. Small shops, stores, restaurants and bars cluster the area. One can find everything here ranging from colourful trinkets to local specialities. At night the whole area is lit up with colourful lights thus creating a very impressive night scenario. We board a colourfully decorated boat and the ride on this ancient river was a memorable experience.

Been very surprised about this kind of activity, first time I found it after several year visiting Nanjing. I enjoy it very much.

Absolutely heaving with local tourists at peak times, which spoils the atmosphere. Better during the day time when it’s quieter, nice views of the river but that’s about it. Mostly just shiny new shops and Chinese tourists looking to flaunt new money.
