Took the MTR from Central to Tsuen Wan, wanted to explore this district one day. Considered as 'new town' like two to three decades ago but has developed into residential and commercial district.

If you have extra days to spend in Hong Kong and looking for cheaper accomodation, try Tsuen Wan, they got serveral hotels with lower price compare to Kowloon but still very enjoyable, there are all shopping malls you need and all restaurants you wonder, but don't expect luxury store here, they got only local stuff, there are many hidden shops at Nam Fung on upper floors (google yourself), computer shops at Tsuen Fung Center (basement), also from street market to Ikea. If you like nature you can visit Shing Mun Reversoir, Tai Mo Shan, for beach you can go towards Ting Kau direction there are serveral beaches. In the evening you can jogging all along the Tsuen Wan West park up to the Ting Kau Bridge, very beautiful at night.

Major hub and waiting point near the park. Located very middle of high traffic and man flow area. Around here with shopping centers, many restaurants, hospital, residential buildings, industrial buildings, Panda hotel.

I know that Tsuen Wan is not a tourist spot however it is still so crowded. The restaurants in the area are average. It has some local food eaties but nothing really special. The price of fresh fruit stalls are not cheap.
Once you are in the centre of Tsuen Wan, you cannot really relax like most part of Hong Kong.
There are a lot of public transportation in the area. I wouldn't say the transportation time to anywhere is short! Not my favorable area in Hong Kong.

Tsuen Wan is way off the usual tourist areas of Hong Kong and very residential. The food selection is not bad and if you are the kind of traveler that prefers a local experience it's not a bad idea to take the 30 minute MTR ride from Hong Kong island.
