Good reception!

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 2 Oct 2023
First time at this hotel. Hard to find as it has only a doorway shopfront on Granville Road and it is all too easy to walk past.
But I found it and was expecting that I would have to just drop my luggage and wander for hours - arrived just before 10 and listed check in is from 3.
Not the greatest few hours to contemplate after a long flight (no sleep). But the receptionist turned into an angel before my eyes by letting me into my room early as it was ready. Bliss and relief.
Facilities are great, though my room was less lux than the one in the photo. Smaller and no sofa, but with views over the roofs of HK commensurate with being on the 14th floor (not so joyous when someone didn't put on their aircon when showering and set off the fire alarm a few days later)
Fridge and hotel type safe included but no access to a microwave. Shower good though design meant I had to get into the stall and unhook the shower to start it or spray self and bathroom with cold water to start. And no soap in the washhandbasin (bit weird)
Mr reception kept his halo as I left by letting me lurk on a reception sofa (check out 12...flight 23.30)

When I checked in, I was told by the front desk that my room was an upgraded one. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard this. However when we got to our room, it was exactly what I had booked. A superior twin room. It was not at upgrade at all. When I checked again with the front desk the next morning, the receptionist did say that it was not an upgrade. What a disappointment.
Second, while the room is clean and expectedly small, there were no bathroom amenities such as bath soap or even shampoo.
Third, there is no coffee service and no complimentary coffee.
Fourth, the floors on the elevator were not polished clean.
Fifth, I did request for a room in The higher floors but this was not accommodated.
Some other hotel notes:
1. There were only about 4 rooms in our floor.
2. The hallways are quite narrow.
3. Despite hallways being narrow, you can’t hear noises from the outside once you’re inside your room.
4. There is no TV channel guide. There were about 2-3 English channels.
5. There is a small fridge - quite useful.
6. Water is replenished every time they clean your room.
7. There is a 7-11 right next door for most of the things that you might need, especially food!
8. There is no airport transportation even if the description said so. You have to walk about 2 blocks away to find either a bus to the airport or a shuttle service to the AirPort Express station in Kowloon. A taxi can always be hailed though.
9. There are no drawers for your clothes. We had to store ours in our luggage and just bring them out when needed.
10. They provide disposable room slippers.
11. The lobby or check in area is on the 3rd floor.
12. The hotel has nice and noticeable art pieces of Thai designs and images.
I am not sure if I will stay here again but for the price of the room, it’s ok.
I wonder if anyone can share their experience on staying here vs attitude on Granville which I think is owned by the same company?
Finally, I am not sure what type of hotel this is or if it is even considered a hotel. I just hoped that the list of amenities listed on their page on TripAdvisor has been updated.

Pros:
the room is spacious and functional in terms of HK standard. At least I can open the suitcase without a problem.
I like the bathroom is not too open, with sink, toilet bowl and shower all in 1 unit (some hotels in HK are so small that they need to put the sink in the room which I dun like). Beds are comfy. Decent size of wardrobe with safe and fridge.
The location is unbeatable.

Cons:
Cleanliness is far from expectation. While the mug in rooms is not clean, the bed board feels tired and unclean. The most disgusting place is the board behind the bed (where electric plugs and switcher for lights are located). The dust is so thick there I can even see footprints/ handprints from either the cleaner or previous guests.
The TV remote control shows there is Netflix but actually it is not available.

Neat Thai interior designer boutique 4 star hotel just off central area of Tsimshatsui, with really tightly fit rooms but great for business visitors.
It's near transport links, huge variety of Asian foods and Western foods such as Knutsford Terrace and quality food marts abound such as M&S to meet your desire for deli foods.

GOOD
Very good bed - good pillows - good air con
Very good shower
Very fast Internet
Right in the center of TST
Room was well decorated

BAD
Staff is rude (normal for HK though)
Bad smell in the lobby
Sometimes the air con was bringing weird smells

All in all, probably my favorite budget hotel in Hong Kong.

Stayed here for 3 nights on a layover between Europe and Australia. Decided to break the journey and explore HK.

Hotel is clean, everything worked as expected. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is well located, a few minutes walk from TST MRT and from Nathan Road. Entrance is on a sidestreet but it is well lit with lots of shops so no need to be put off by that.
