The Pentahotel was just around the corner from the Chongwenmen train station(about 100 mtrs). However, if you have heavy suitcases, I would not suggest taking the train from the airport as there are no escalators at the station. We stayed one week at the hotel and found the location to be perfect. We were able to walk to Tiannamen Square and the Forbidden City as well as the Temple of Heaven. We caught the train to the Great Wall at Badalang and to the Summer Palace. There are many shopping centres near the hotel as well as great eateries. The room was clean and large. We were on the street side but it was quiet at night. The reception staff were friendly and check in and out was a breeze. We did not book anything at the tour desk as we found the girl to be very unhelpful. We would stay here again.

Sadly the rooms don't live up to the wonderful website. Funky and catchy website which I thought would lead to the hotel having a 'citizen M' look and feel but was greet with very tired old rooms in desperate need of a revamp. Hotel advertises as a boutique hotel but is a large roomed building hotel adjacent to a shopping mall. Avoid the 8th floor rooms, terrible damp smell. My room did not look anything like the room advertised in the picture, coffee table was chipped and veneer peeling off, old grubby carpets and curtains - really disappointing!
I enjoyed the bar and lunch area and bar staff were really amazing, good noodles and selection of food.
If the hotel upgrades to be in line with the look and offering on the website - it would be an excellent choice - good position, easy walk to the metro and lots to do and see around the area.
I would not stay there again...

Airline called to tell me my baggage was claim. Staff told me that the airline didn't call despite telling them that the airline would to update on the status. Only know about it when I went down personally to the airport to check. Rude and poor customer service too. One of the worst hotels to stay on. Especially during winter time. Centralised aircon was off due to winter. Window spoilt and cannot be opened. Room was extremely humid and uncomfortable. Hotel was not able to provide fan as well. Will not recommend this hotel.

Was a little hard to find the entrance cause it's in the back but decor inside is very nice. Rooms are clean and spacious. Showers are hot and powerful. Very comfortable. You see a lot of guests hanging out in the lobby.

Chosen this mainly because of it´s location.
Yes, it is close and walking distance to ToH but for Tiamen, Forbidden Palace and Wangfujing you have to take to the bicycle provided for rent by the Hotel. This is btw great fun in Beijing but dangerous.
Breakfast is outstanding. Unfortunately, after one hour not much left. Looks and this is my only complaint somewhat messy after 8am.
