This place was so good (and safe/clean) that I ate there three times in four days. It is a very busy restaurant, mostly with locals...though the occasional Lonely Planet-toting westerner shows up, too. I had mutton curry which was served quickly with various dipping sauces and the steamed rice on a classic Indian-style metal tray. They bring forks/spoons to the western folk - which is handy as I don't feel comfortable eating directly with my fingers. You share tables with other people, which is a fun way to share the experience. The restaurant is (almost literally) a hole in the wall along a pretty busy street just off the Sule Pagoda. If you sit towards the front of the restaurant, facing the outside, you can experience wonderful people watching as you eat.

I highly recommend it for those who like Indian food and want a safe clean place to eat in Rangoon.

Located within walking distance of Central & Traders Hote;s (behind the hotels). From Central Hotel, look for 29th street. walk down the streen and you will end at junction of Anwarahta Road. It is located 2 shop lots away.

Very popular restaurant with fan, serving selection of South Indian meals. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.Vegetarian meals is available. Menu is available and set thali (plated) meal with fish or chicken would cost approx USD2.50 - 3.00

Managed by local staff with Indian cashier. As meals have been pre-cooked, service is fast. Once staff have taken your order, they will shout the order out to the kitchen (can be noisy when full).

Our group ordered both Vegetarian & non vegetarian, Chapathi, Thosa & puri. Meals came with selection of vegetables (replendished as much as you want without cost) & Rasam (Sour Indian soup with lots of mixed spices & tamarnd juice). Portion are big with unlimited helping of rice.

Most days we had our luches here and it was full with continous flow of customers.
Staff are friendly & English, Burmese & Tamil (cashier) are spoken.

Highly recommended for cheap & tasty South Indian meals. Do not expect fancy set-up. Simple restaurant that serves affordable tasty meals.

Quite extensive menu, we opted for a dahl (awesome) and a potato puri. It was delicious and came with a bunch of side dips of various sauces and curried thingys. What i would call a Bradford hole in the wall but bustling with efficient boy waiters - certainly the kitchen looks suspect but hey your not in Kansas any more. Thing it cost about $3

It was that noisy because everyone was just screaming orders and talking loudly at 6.30 am that i can hardly imagine what happens there in rush hours. It is a very basic cheap place. Does not look clean. Food is mediocre. Assume that indian cuisine lovers may like it.
Rice refill unlimited)
Would only recommend for those reasy for cheapest restaurant experience.

An English menu is available and one of the waiters speaks enough English to answer questions and clarify the menu. *Vegetarian choices on the menu and tasty! The potato chapati for 6oo kyat was really good and the vegetable curry and rice was great with endless rice and curry - 4 or 5 side dishes provided and all very good. Beware the red chilis! Their flavor is nice just avoid biting into them... take my word for it! ;)  A selection of good Indian sweets available, too. A filling and good meal for two including bottled water and soda, 3000 kyat for two
