My wife and I have just recently spent 8 days at Coco Beach resort. It was the most stunning place to stay. The ability to be able to snorkel, kayak, stand up paddle board or just go for a relaxing swim (float) in the water straight out the back of the resort was loverly. Stuart the General Manager and all the staff were absolutely amazing. No request or question was to hard or a bother and they accomodate everyone who is staying. The food is loverly and they always offer suggestion on nice places to eat close by or in the city and even simple things such as cutting up fruit that you have purchased from the markets.
I would highly recommend spending sometime here if you are ever in Port Vila.

Thank you Stuart for being such an accomodating host and always having a loverly chat throughout the day! You and the staff make this place the perfect getaway.

Beau and Anna.

Spent 7 nights in a beachfront fare. We wanted somewhere to go that was quiet, at the water and relaxing. Cocoa beach did this and is well outside Port Villa in a quiet out of the way spot overlooking the Mele Bay. Typical day was wake up to water views, peace and quiet, had breakfast which was more than adequate, a swim, snorkel, kayak or stand up paddle boarding, read a book, rest and get away from it all. We did do a day trip to see some other places on the island and included a day trip to Port Villa. Other wise we chilled and did very little and cocoa beach was just the place to do that. The buses were easy to use to get around and the staff ordered them for us. We tried out the other restaurants in Port Villa and those closer for dinner as the menu at Cocoa Beach remained the same for a week and was OK, noting that the staff were locals and doing the best to their ability and probably pay. The sunsets were amazing and the perfect spot to get that view.
Note that Stuart and his staff, we're very helpful. The room was air conditioned and clean, with daily servicing. Water pressure was low and you needed to be clever managing the hot water flow and the water pressure but there was hot water and it was not the end of the world that we had to do this. There was internet close to the restaurant and was intermittent elsewhere in the resort but again didn't need it 24/7, first world problems! It is a third world country and the people are lovely, calm and helpful. As you drive through the villages and streets it makes you grateful for what you do have back at home.
The entry to the water is hazardous, take some water shoes to help with grip, there are snorkels and the colours of the coral and fish were amazing.
If you want to get away from it all and can handle low water pressure and intermittent internet then this is the place to go.

Ok, let's start with what's great about Coco Beach Resort;
The location is beautiful and perfect for the enthusiastic snorkelling peeps.
The staff and manager cannot be more friendly, welcoming and helpful - they will make every effort to accomodate your smallest requests.
The beachfront bungalows are clean, bright and serviced thoroughly every day.
If you're looking for accommodation with easy access by water taxi (highly recommend) and regular taxis to anywhere you want to go on the island, friendly staff and a "no plans", relaxing getaway then Coco Beach Resort is perfect and would have a 5* rating if not for ......
The food is ordinary at best - having eaten in a couple of places on the island I'd recommend eating out of the resort every night (except Christmas Day, the food was beautiful that day and highlighted how poor it had been on other nights) also food is expensive for what you get compared to other local restaurants.
The plumbing in the beach front bungalow sucks BIG time! The public toilet on the beach flushes better than our room toilet and water pressure in the sinks and shower are crazy poor. We used restrooms and a shower at different locations on the island which were far better, so this is not a specific problem to the island.
Rodent poo appearing in the room overnight and small red caterpillars (?) falling from the mozzie net canopy onto our bed
Outdoor sun loungers falling apart, the ramp access to the beach is deadly slippy if not cleaned daily
This is not a resort, it's accomodation with a restaurant and bar - no spa services available.
Don't get a downer on Coco Beach, this is a third world country so you need to expect issues with plumbing, abundance of biting insects and tiny furry visitors - it's not the Hilton, but it's not a Travelodge - the staff make up for any irks us westerners can tend to get hung up on!
Coco Beach would've got a 5* rating from us if the food hadn't been so "meh" and we'd been able to have even one hot shower during our stay!
Any issues with the "tired and broken" facilities should be directed to the owner of the resort - the owner needs to inject some much needed cash into Coco Beach to bring it up to the standard of neighbouring resorts - it's not the fault of the manager or staff who make the very best out of what they have been given!!

Room tip: Only beachfront bungalows have aircon!

Relaxing and stress free is the best way to describe Coco Beach, the stress just melts away when you arrive, it is about 15 minutes from town and is in the idyllic location in the country. Waking up in the morning with the noise of the birds in the trees and the waves on the beach is a thing of movies. The pool was great for a morning swim until I got brave enough to jump into the ocean, the fish are brilliant in colour. The rooms are great, very airy and comfortable.

Of all the places we stayed during our latest trip to Vanuatu, Coco Beach Resort Port Vila was our favourite.

The resort is definitely off the beaten track. When you first arrive, you will wonder where the driver is taking you! The road eventually turns into a dirt track and it feels like you're driving into the middle of the woods when you suddenly get to the front gate. You won't be able to hail one of the local buses there, but this isn't a problem at all because they'll be happy to call one to pick you up and you can easily get one back when you're ready.

The one confusing thing: The front area isn't manned. All of the action happens down at the beach, so you have to lug your bags down the path to the restaurant area beachside. The manager, Stuart is a lovely Australian guy who is very happy to help you organise whatever you need or just sit and have a yarn. The hospitality him and his staff show you really enhances your stay.

Our room was clean and very comfortable. While they provide mosquito nets, we didn't need to use it at all. (I believe they take measures to repel mozzies during the rainy season, which is great.) Our room had an air conditioner, but it struggled the whole time because of the way the farés are made and the very sunny beachside location of ours. That said, it provided just enough cooler air to be able to sleep at night.

The one thing that would have been helpful was an information booklet in each room. Stuart and the staff are very casual and accommodation of whatever you need, whenever, but you don't really know that unless they mention it upon arrival. It would have been helpful to have basic information about when the restaurant is usually available, how to get into town, recommended tours, etc. without going to the restaurant to find out.

Speaking of the restaurant, it was fabulous. Everything we had was delicious, especially the coconut lime fish salad for lunch. It's also quite reasonably priced for resort food. Their chef does a wonderful job.

Nature wise, you will love this place. It is THE BEST place in Port Vila to watch the sunset. It is also a fantastic place to snorkel, especially if you're a beginner. They have a couple of lovely ribbons of reef right outside your door that are well worth exploring.

If you're looking for a blissfully quiet place to stay with plenty of character, definitely give Coco Beach Resort Port Vila a go. We will definitely be back as soon as humanly possible.

Room tip: While the beachfront rooms are lovely, I would perhaps recommend getting one of the rooms a bit further back during the hot season.
