Decent service. The food was pretty good aside from a dish or two that did not impress. Highly recommend the shrimp even though they are messy to eat, the flavor more than makes up for it. The fish was excellent and the meat was good. I would recommend going with a few friends as the dishes can be quite large.

This is a great venue and the ambiance and food are delicious but I was staggered by the price when the bill came. We were 4 people and we had 4 beers, 2 bottles of wine, 4 starters, 2 main courses (shared) and 2 deserts shared and the bill was 780,000 COP!

Where we went wrong was that we ordered two of the main courses from the specials board but the staff didn’t tell us the price.

It was a great evening but it was bitter sweet when the bill came.

I loved this place! Food was really good. We had several small plates to share. Love the Gambas! The salads are super fresh as well. They have a great variety of food and the ambience is just amazing! They really took the time to explain the menu and the service was just on point! It's a bit pricey but worth it. Make a reservation, the restaurant is small. Try the desserts!

It was our second time on Café Bar Universal, we were celebrating the Compadre’s Birthday. Our first time was on 2018 with friends, it was a great experience. The Compadre deserved a great dinner, Café Bar Universal was my recommendation.

They delivered great again, food was delicious, cocktails original and the service was good, even though the place was full. It was Saturday night, reservations were mandatory.

Before deciding on the drinks, we asked promptly to reserve the best dishes from our first experience. Extraordinary Fresh Squid Ceviche, barely flamed with herbs “Leche de Tigre”. Belly Pork slowly cooked, sold out, instead we tried a special butcher “Secreto Criollo”pork cut, tenderly cooked au jus with the creamiest potatoes pure you can imagine. Crusted Tuna cooked blue was also reserved. They recommended "Lengua de Ternera with Tomatillos" (Veal Tongue), and Cazuela de Txistorra y Sobrasada served on a hot cast iron skillet with savory and slightly spiced tender red bell pepper. We added all to the feast.

Finally, we were ready for the very original House Cocktails. House Bread was amazing, we had more than one basket. Then the feast…

On this opportunity we didn´t try Café Bar Universal Dessert Menu, we had our Compadre favorite Chocolate Cake from Masa Bakery, they allowed us to bring the cake, it was a nice gesture we appreciated.

A lovely feast, the ambiance music was just a little bit too loud, it was Saturday night in Bogotá, the party was just beginning…
