A disaster, what a bad experience, we arrived to find out that the room category we where expecting was not available and that we where staying far away from the main building with views of....well nothing, the next wall. They kept also insisting that I had only gold, whilst I have a platinum tier and did not recognize it until the last day of our stay. Then we finally got the room we intend to get after long discussions and embarrassing moments. They also sold us Club Floor at an additional charge since it was not eligible with Platinum (watch out) according their books. They tricked us in with the comment, it is almost the same price as the breakfast alone, so it’s better, if you then go for breakfast outside on the terrace then you will be charged again for breakfast as this is not included in Club Floor! Read the terms and conditions carefully and ask for them, we where not given them and had another argument....anywhere else in the world if you have Club Floor you are in titled to choose where you go breakfast....not here...avoid if you can. I received a mere apologizing email which does not bring anything after the facts. It is just not a Ritz Carlton, it clearly lacks proper maintenance also. Never go back.

Dear Sven P,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on our Trip Advisor page.
My team and I were most saddened to hear of your less than satisfactory experience at our hotel. I see that your reservation was originally for Venetian rooms and unfortunately rooms in main building were not available on your arrival date, however I am glad that the team could make it work for you on the second day of your stay. Sometimes when a guest just received the new rewards status, our system takes some time to update the information. I regret that your found our Club lounge experience not up to your expectation, our guests usually recommend the wonderful breakfast and view from the 7th floor of the lounge.

While I realize that no written or verbal explanation can possibly compensate such a disappointing visit. Please be assured that all possible measures are being taken to avoid occurrences in future.

Your present feeling is appreciated, however we do hope that you will not judge us solely on the basis of this particular experience and that in time, you may reconsider your position and choose to stay with us once again in the future.

Yours sincerely,

Nick Heath
General Manager

Facilities were excellent, everything was clean and tidy. It was a treat for me to stay at such an upper end hotel; I'd definitely do it again. Super comfortable beds - I think the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in!

Totally enjoyed our mini break here, the friendly hotel staff were lovely, always obliging, nothing too much trouble. Our room was very clean, the beds are divine, really comfortable - was hard to get out of them !! The food is very good, other food restaurants on site if you want to try somewhere different or a change of scene from the main hotel restaurant. Pool area with waiter service serving drinks & snacks, overlooking the beach. Perfect place to stay for a bit of sun & relaxation. Taxis or hotel arranged transport available if you want to get out & about. As we expected, RC Abu Dhabi is slightly expensive........

This is the most luxurious hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was excellent, once one had learned how to get there. Public rooms and spaces absolutely magnificent as was the swimming pool and the associated facilities. The breakfast facilities were excellent as were the other restaurants we visited. The only problem was that the Fairmont Hotel a few hundred yards away had a very noisy so called concert on our last night of stay. We had great difficulty getting rest that night, although our hotel provided us with ear plugs. Do not stay at the Fairmont. The service at the Ritz Carlton is discrete, friendly and helpful Excellent ratio of staff to guests.

Room tip: Room 2003 captures external noise fro the Fairmont Hotel

We loved spending a week here in early November, pleasantly warm, even hot, most days and what a fabulous location. The hotel is situated within 15-20 minutes of the international airport although very close indeed to another much smaller airport and some days it seemed as if there was a procession of small planes and helicopters on the flight path directly over the hotel (perhaps every 15-30 minutes) mostly landing though, seldom taking off. These were more of a passing interest than an annoyance but if you have a particular aversion to aircraft noise this may not be a hotel for you.

We checked in very late at night and were initially placed in a room on the lowest level at the furthest extremity of the hotel with a view of the palm trees outside. We requested a transfer the next morning to a room on a higher floor which was so much better, away from the main restaurant terrace and all it's noise and with a superb view of the vast pool and canal.

Breakfast was good not great, simply due to the numbers using the restaurant, the selections were very reasonable and it was lovely seeing the beautiful cake displays in the patisserie/confectionery area of the kitchen and trying to work out whether they were real.

We ate out every evening and it is not always necessary to take taxis away from the hotel. Sometimes we walked down to the landing stage at the end of the Venetian village and took the abra (water taxi) across to the other side where there are numerous restaurants and a souk. The abra seems to run every 15 to 20 mins although can possibly be booked ahead and costs 25 Dirhams per person per trip. Taxis to the other side of the canal are available and would work out cheaper but the abra is more fun. There is a large buggy which drives around the resort transporting guests wherever they need to go, a great service which can be called up from the restaurants.

We spent time by both pools, the main one which is huge and has a very long gentle slope followed by some steps down into it. There is plenty going on here with attendant lifeguards and pool attendants who were very helpful in sorting out sunbeds, towels etc. The smaller adult only pool is situated amongst the villas, takes a little bit of finding, but is great if you want a quieter time.

The hotel is just across from the Grand Mosque and the views of it from the hotel are superb, perhaps not so easy to walk to the main entrance though which seems to be around the other side. We took a taxi both ways which is perhaps the best option, and don't forget your water bottle, there is nothing available there apart from the water fountains which seemed to have long queues.
