this hotel is located at the center of big Tehran and near the Metro station and main street. although the price is not too cheap but if you compare it with other modern hotels it is logical. some part of this hotel is decorated like iranian traditions.

Room Tip: you can swim inside!

Centrally placed in a side street, near Meydan-e-Valiasr Metro stop and shops. Rooms are quiet, spacious and clean, everything works and staff are very helpful and friendly. The restaurant is adequate.

The hotel is located within easy access to shops and Valiasr Square (one huge roundabout).Restaurants are rather hard to find. There is a mini supermarket right next door. To reach any of the city attractions you need to use transport.

The typically drab 70s exterior hides interestingly decorated lobby and good standard of furnishing.

Rooms are quite spacious and beds comfortable. The fridge holds the obligatory bottles of water and…nothing else. There is an easy to operate safety box. TV only shows Iranian programmes.

Bathrooms are of good size with ample assortment of toiletries. There are two types of slippers: the usual soft ones as well as plastic clogs, very handy on hot days. I found amusing the odd sense of priorities: cracking and shabbily applied sealant around the bath yet gold-plated handles on the door.

Dinner, if available, is of a buffet variety served in the breakfast room. They have a good choice of national dishes, you can also ask for tasty non-alcoholic beers.

Breakfast is also very varied with choice of hot and cold dishes. Nice to try a variety of Persian cottage cheeses with their tasty flat bread, Nan-e barbari. Very flavoursome tomatoes. You can also request an omelette.

There is also an interesting tea room at the back of the reception, good for socialising.

Friendly and helpful reception staff, they helped me with making international calls as these seem to be only possible from the desk.

Very reasonable place considering the country although nowhere near the international four star status.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the main entrance

Kowsar Hotel is well located in central Tehran, within walking distance to Valiasr Sq. The rooms are clean and spacious. Has a very nice traditional tea-house for socializing with other travelers and locals. breakfast is excellent.

Room Tip: I think the south-siding rooms are better.
