Description: Pastel – a modern, stylish Israeli brasserie led by owner Itzik Hengal and Chef Tavakuli. Pastel restaurant resides in a lively area that houses the city’s premier cultural institutions. The restaurant attracts visitors from the Tel-Aviv Museum of Art, the Cameri Theatre, and the Israeli Opera, as well as guests out on the town, enjoying its unique location. In charge of the restaurant’s design, which has earned the title of “Best Designed Restaurant” in the worldwide competition Space Design Award – Idea Tops of 2014, are architects Alon Baranowitz and Irina Kronenberg. The restaurant has been designed as an integral part of the new wing of the museum, which was designed by American architect Preston Scott Cohen. The building’s exterior layer is sucked in sculpturally to create the seating and bar area. The restaurant comprises of three separate seating areas, each offering a different dining experience: the central space; the spacious terrace overlooking the sculpture garden; and the “cocoon” – a tucked-away, hidden bar that is a world of its own. Each space offers a variety of seating areas and a wide range of styles and ambiences for wining and dining. The restaurant dedicates a great deal of emphasis to the small details, in the quality of service as well as that of the food. Chef Hilel Tavakuli creates Mediterranean dishes with a modern interpretation, dishes that complete the cultural experience of the location and are often described as works of art in their own right. The menu is precise, leading guests on a one of kind culinary journey.

We went for an early dinner (5:30pm)
After amazing opera at the Opera house ( the restaurant is just in front of) and were simply surprised by the beautiful interior, professional service and of course the food. Every meal was delicious ( fish soup, seabass file, salads etc) and the wine was great too ( we took something from Pelter winery).
Do recommended !
(Reservation in advance is necessary.)

Went there for a romantic dinner. The place looks fantastic. We sat in the bar next to the kitchen so we got to see all the beautiful dishes coming out. We got excellent wine, starters were delicious - we had seafood. Calamari highly recommended. Got shrimp for main course, also excellent. The plates are not over complicated though sophisticated, which we like and they are very beautiful just to look at. The various sauces accompanying the dishes are extremely well done.
Recommended!!

This is a good restaurant, that somehow thinks it's an excellent one.
We were celebrating a family birthday dinner and were allocated a big table next to the bar.
Service was ok, despite almost being nagging.
The place was rather packed but did not feel crowded.
The dishes were mostly good (skip the gnocchi, though, as it was too sweet for comfort) and looked great.
We each ordered a starter, a main course, some breads, a couple of drinks (beers, cocktails and soft drinks) and desserts.
At the end, we were all given complimentary limoncello shots.
Prices were rather adequate - apx. 65 USD per person for this dinner, excluding tip.

We were expecting a typical Museum restaurant and were pleasantly surprised to find a really nice restaurant instead. We enjoyed the "business man's lunch" which included a beverage, appetizer and entree. Everything was presented in a creative way and the food was absolutely delicious. The place has a minimal look and very tastefully decorated. There is both indoor and outdoor seating.
