Review of Hotel Mercury
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Feb 2014
I stayed in mercury hotel only for one night. The room was very big bedroom and living room. I like the buffet breakfast and dinner. The staff was very helpful and kind (only few speaks English). The wifi was working well for me and I recommend this hotel.

I was in dushanbe for a night in september 2013. the hotel looks grand from the outside (once you enter the gate). i think its located in a residential area. the room was ok..but i wasnt pleasd at all with the breakfast arrangement. the dining room is so mediocre and the service is way too average. The breakfast menu is worse than you would expect in a hotel with such a facade.

its an ok hotel; nothing to write home about.

It was really nice to enter this hotell after some days in a more expensive, but less charming businesshotell in Dushanbe. Calm, looking as a Manor, double doors protected against eventually noice (but not against the morning coq). The service was discret and the breakfast very good.

Hotel Mercury was a pleasant surprise. Very friendly and helpful staff. Large room, soviet style decoration but comfortable. The room even had a computer with internet in it. Nice courtyard. Good variety of food for breakfast. I didn't see the fitness centre or swimming pool. Would recommend staying here.

A little out of the way, in a side street, this hotel's approach is crammed. An odd rock garden that is anything but pretty dominates the front yard. The rooms are large with clean en-suite bathrooms though. The staff were not cooperative though. The manager was busy doing his own stuff but serving his guests. I had to request him several times if he could help us get tickets to a ballet show. He was disinterested in helping us. The staff, over all, looked unhappy, and appeared even rude. The breakfast was OK though.

We really enjoyed our stay at Mercury Hotel, after some rough and basic stays elsewhere in Central Asia we were after a little bit of luxury without the riduculous price tages of the Hyatt etc. We were not disappointed - our room was spacious, very clean and well furnished/equipped - the small bar fridge was great for chilling drinjs we bought from a nearby grog shop - the shower was nice and super hot - the bed was comfortable.

The location just off the main street was great and we walked nearly everywhere including to/from restaurants for dinner.

Breakfast was quite good - a modest buffet that included eggs, pankakes, cereal, yoghurt etc - but it would have been nice if breakfast finished later (it is 7-9am even on weekends).

Service was generally very good although checkout was slow due to the guy simultaneously talking to soneone else (another staff member?).
