Little GEM in Dushanbe. friendliest staff and excellent service

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 12 Apr 2021
I thought I had left a review already, and realised I did not ! so here we go. I stayed at Atlas B&B twice, once in August 2018 and once in November 2018, for a work trip. I loved Tajikistan (Dushanbe) and my stay at Atlas. The environment is so homely, warm, welcoming and gives you a good idea of the Tajik aesthetic and way of furnishing homes. The whole B&B is super clean and comfortable, there is air con for the super hot summer as well as good heating for winter. The bed I remember was very comfortable. The food at the hotel (breakfast) is amazing. every time I would wake up super happy to go for breakfast. The staff super attentive, friendly and nice. Good spaces all around to work, on your own and with colleagues. Also, you can go to the nearby other Atlas hotel, which is bigger and has an indoor swimming pool, and use their facilities for free (coffee, tables, I think also swimming pool). the hotel is a small walk to Dushanbe downtown, in a very quiet area. nearby there are small corner shops and some amazing bakeries for bread. Tajik food is soo good, there are no words for it and the bread is to die for.

I stayed here for 2 nights on a group tour and won the jackpot by ending up in a suite on the 5th Floor. It was the size of a small apartment with blingy furnishings, a huge jacuzzi bath and private enclosed balcony. Amazing for a B&B guesthouse! The breakfast was one of the best on the trip and one evening when a few of us didn’t go out for dinner the front desk were happy to order in pizza for us and deal with the delivery guy. Plates and cutlery were available in the breakfast room

Stayed two nights. Good location 10-min from the airport by car. Relatively quiet area.
No elevator, and a few steps along the hallways.
The room was clean, modern and attractive. Comfortable bed and pillows. Enough conveniently located power jacks. Room amenities included coffee and tea maker, safe (which I didn't use, but apparently was malfunctioning because it started beeping loudly), refrigerator. A large bottle of water per day is provided.
Decent size bathroom with high tech shower - good water pressure, although the drain was partially clogged. Good selection of toiletries.
    The not-so-good:
    - Lack of soundproofing (walls are thin, you can hear conversations in the rooms next to you and noise from the street; fortunately it's a relatively quiet street after hours)
    - No light switch near the bed
Breakfast buffet was very reasonable for Central Asia. They also have snacks and fruit available during the day.
Complimentary Wifi with frequent hiccups (seems to be typical for Tajikistan).
    Very friendly helpful staff.

I have spent 5 nights in Atlas B&B hotel.

Personnel is very friendly and helpful. From checking in to check out. Smiling, attentive, pollite.
    One by one.
Room: very clean, good bed, enough free drinking water. A lot of toiletries. Fresh towels. Free WiFi. Cattle with some tea and coffee packets.
Location: near the airport. Taxi is available on call in few minutes. Getting to teh city centre is very easy, 10 minutes max.
Breakfast: easy and good. Nice coffee making machine, usual buffet style food with good addiitons. Coffee, some pastry and fruits are available for free around the clock.

    Not so good:
    Tap water. Do not drink.
Internet most of the time is slow. Well, it is there - good enough

Please note that this is B&B facility so there is no restaurant or swimming pool )

I was really satisfied with room and service.

Modern and cozy rooms in eastern style. 24 h room service. 24 h free lobby bar (tee, coffe, milk, yougurt, fruits, cakes, jam etc). Very friendly staff. Cozy inner yard. Free airport transfer. Close to the airport. Minus - location far from the city center (10 min by taxi for dinner in the city center).

Room tip: rooms at the second floor with small terraces

This is my fifth stay in this hotel and every time it gets better. Was recently renovated. Serene peaceful inner garden. Spacious rooms. Friendly family service lawyers eager to help. Good breakfast. Free tea, coffee, juices, fruit and pastry 24 hours in the lobby. Free strong wifi. May be not as fancy as the five and four star hotels nearby, but gives you a rather unique warm local touch and memorable different experience. Located in a quiet village type area of the city close to the airport and not far from the centre. Don't mix with hotel Atlas around the corner. They are under the same ownership but are very different, with new Atlas perhaps more modern and luxurious. Can not comment on the latter as so far did not stay there as preferred the local ambience and peaceful garden of the "old" Guesthouse.
