Nice apartment hotel

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 10 Apr 2015via mobile
Clean spacious apartment hotel. Well equipped kitchenette, large living space with lounge, dining room and kitchen are all together, separate bedroom and bathroom with washing machine. Would be good for longer stays. Gym doesn't open until 08:30 so no good if you want to go early morning plus some days are women only so need to check first.

I spent one week in this hotel. It is an appart hotel.
People at the desk are speaking english and we really appreciate - we are not Russian speakers.
The pick-up from the airport to the hotel is included - not charged.

We were on the 11th floor with a very nice point of view on the whole city and mountains around.
The apartments were very big. Nice, quiet and clean. Cleaners came every days.
The design of the rooms Is made in Central Asia style!

The breakfast has a lot of various dishes - fresh and nice food.

TV were not well working but we didn't have so much time to spend with.

The price is not expensive for the service, apartment and for the location.
Also, people are very helpful for everything you can need.

If you go to Dushanbe; this hotel is nice.

Apartment living. Walking distance to main boulevard... Rudaki Ave. Nearby restaurants. Not my choice of accomodation; booked by my office. Building houses Turkish embassy, turkish airlines office and several United Nations organizations. No restaurant. Free basic breakfast has to be ordered and delivered for consumption in room. Pipes are probably old since water is somewhat brown during first minute. Outdated apartment. Cooking facility and laundry in the unit. Constant power outage. A/C not able to keep up with 106 degrees outside temp. No gym.

The Vefa is not really a hotel, but a short-term apartment rental. The staff are all nice people, but they do lack sophistication. I stay there about five times per year, and have not experienced exactly what the other reviewer ("Omer ") has experienced, but it doesn't surprise me. Breakfast room service is included in the room rate, although half the time you can get random choices on the breakfast tray. Since the majority of the TV channels are Russian, perhaps the place is geared toward Russian travelers, and thus a different set of expecations and standards.

So why do I stay there?
1. Good location. A block from Rudaki Park, within quick walking distance of half a dozen great restaurants.
2. Apartment. When I come to Dushanbe, I stay for 2-4 weeks. Any hotel room would seem like a prison cell. Having a separate living room makes a difference.
3. Washing machine. See above. I can bring fewer clothes and do a wash, which makes packing much easier.

Of the few places in Dushanbe that a Westerner would stay, each has its good and bad points. On balance, I've found that the good outweighs the bad at the Vefa, and on balance is the best place I've found for my long and frequent trips.

If I were only staying a few days, and I was unfamiliar with the city, I would stay at the Hyatt.

The other reviewer reflects what one assumes is a sorry but hopefully unusual situation. I think it's useful to point out that the Vefa Centre does note really try to be a hotel but more a series of partly serviced apartments. Although I didn't end up staying here I did check out a few of them as a possible option... They are on the top (9th, 10th, 11th floors) of a business tower and thus have pretty good views. There's a lot of space to relax in and the apartments have a lot of accessories so you really are independent. Seemed very neat and tidy but in the end the asky price of US$170 was above my budget.

Room tip: Ask for an apartment with mountain views and check if it has a washing machine (most do but I got the impression that a couple might not)

We have stayed there during our visit in Dushanbe. While making reservation, the reception told us prices and after arrival during our stay we found out that our rooms are more expensive than we booked. It turns out that reception determined the room rate herself without our confirmation. And they did not inform us about this change while we were just checking in.
We have told about this isse to the director Mr.Ramazan, and he accepted their fault and let us stay with the promised price during our stay in Dushanbe. But on the last day, while checking out, they charged us with higher price, and Mr. Ramazan says, he can not remember his promise. If you can't keep your promise, then why do you promise? Its nonsense.
Finally, we do not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. At the same time, we will not stay there anymore, even for free.
