As a young British student of Russian in then Leningard I had the opportunity to spend an entire week in Hotel Tojikiston in 1991 and it was for this very reason I decided to revisit the hotel. I was not at all disappointed, as my stay was really good and very enjoyable. The views from the rooms facing Dushanbe's Central Park are just phenomenal (politely demand a room with such a view) and the staff ever so helpful. Simply put, nothing was too much trouble for the front-desk team, even to the extent that upon request they swapped my rear-facing room for the aforementioned one of the park.
The location is also stellar. You are right in the heart of the city and most places can be reached on foot. I found Indian, Georgian and Tajik restaurants a stone's throw away. The in-house Chinese restaurant is also top notch. You will not go hungry during your stay.
Over the years I have stayed in most of Dushanbe's major hotels - the Hyatt Hotel, Marian's Guest House, Asia Hotel, and Mercury Hotel among others - and all are good places to stay, but I would not hesitate fora moment to return to Hotel Tojikiston.
