Interesting hotel, will think twice before I rebook again

Well, Hyatt is perhaps the best hotel in Dushanbe, and I regret that we were placed in Tojikistan - was kinda out of my control, as it was an organised event. The elevator stucked in the 5th floor and you had to wait at least 5-10 min in the dark before it started back on - some technicians used crude method with their hammers to bring it to life, please avoid the far left elevator out of the three they have in the building. The rooms are ok, free internet that always helps, the resturant was ok, but given the price could have been better. The GYM was under construction, the suana didn't work, and the disco was a kinda creepy, if I were a stingy guy I would have asked for a clear discount for the non-deliverable services. USD 150 a night is way too expensive for this experience.

After looking on the pictures on the internet, I though 150 usd pr night for a single was way to much. But as I needed to book online, I did not have many options.
But arriving here was a pleasure. Very nice lobby, friendly staff, and nice room. The elevators are a bit slow, and the bathroom small (and no mirror in the room), but apart from that - great.

Restaurant is not so good, basic (but cheap). We had dinner at Hyatts one night, and Delhi Durbar the other, liked both.

I think this hotel is the same as the one called Best Eastern Tajikistan here?

Room tip: Ask for one on 6.-8th floor, beautiful view

Tojikiston is a good hotel. It has a nice lobby with the bar, nice rooms. Earlier it used to be 'soviet', but now, after reconstruction, it's a fine hotel. I stayed there several times. Wouldn't particularly recommend their 'suites', because for me a simple single room looked more cozy and less expensive.

The hotel was new and clean. But the beds were VERY HARD. My back was killing me by the end of the week. Tiles were missing in the bathroom but heat and plumbing, etc. were all up to Europen standards. Food in the restaurant was very basic. Had a friend who had a real biting insect problem after our stay.

I stayed at the Hyatt, as I couldn't find info about hotel alternatives beforehand. The Tojikiston, where I just did a site visit, seems a real alternative IMHO. It is new, 5 star, perfectly located next to the center of Rudaki mainstreet, rather inexpensive at US$ 150 incl. tax & brkfst and it has a lobby where you may actually sit and do some people watching, compared to the Hyatt which can be a very lonely place. Contrary to the Hyatt, the Tojikistan also hosts a competent travel agency in the lobby and a small shop. I could feel that the Tojikistan service level does not compete with the well-trained Hyatt staff and the interior design cannot compete either. The Tojikiston pool is not finished yet.
