Description: About Anan Saigon: The name of the restaurant is ănăn, which also means ‘eat eat’. It is located in Chợ Cũ Tôn Thất Đạm, a wet market right in the center of bustling Saigon. We specialize in street food-inspired dishes created by the award-winning chef Peter Cuong Franklin. Chef Peter’s creative Vietnamese cuisine reflects his vision of a Vietnam that is deeply respectful of its history and traditions yet progressive and international in its outlook. Fusion style Vietnamese. Everything we ordered was very nice. Enjoyed the rice pizza ( although small portion). The pork stake was amazing. We also tried the garlic mushrooms and it was nice. Value for money not so much. A ogle of wine and a couple of plates to share then this is the place.

Hi ktax,

Thank you for your review of Anan Saigon. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed the food. As for the value, we understand that it is subjective. We pride ourselves in the amount of time and quality we put into the food. For the porkchop for instance, it takes us 12 hours to prepare before the service for that night starts. Just because we're in Vietnam, doesn't mean everything has to be 'cheap.' There's high quality food and value to be found if you know the preparation it takes to go into it.

Reading through the raving reviews, I decided to spend my husband's birthday dinner here. I made a reservation a week in advance, to avoid last minute disappointment, and informed them of his birthday! It was thoroughly disappointing, experience wise and food wise!

1) they did not care about my prior intimation, and that I wanted to make my husband's dinner special, they made us wait for long

2) food is extremely average, nothing to rave about. The salt pepper prawns and chicken nuggets were okish, nothing flavourful, can avoid. The stir fry beef was good.

3) the food is very over priced. The prices don't justify the dishes at all.

I am definitely not coming back or recommending to anyone!

Hi Mrunalini,

We're disappointed to hear about your experience. According to our email and reservation records, we noted in the reservation that it was your husband's birthday and that we would go out of our way to make it a special night for you two. We're not sure why you have noted that we made you wait long (for your table or for your food?), but our team will always make the table available for advance reservations. If we aren't able to in unusual circumstances, we would offer a complimentary drink or appetizer while there is a wait. Fortunately we have an outdoor patio and rooftop that you can enjoy while waiting. As for the food, we're disappointed that you have decided to leave a 1-star review based on two dishes that are appetizers. They are meant to be snacks and paired up with drinks, not main dishes, as they are noted on the menu. The pricing is subjective and we understand that it is based on the whole experience, which in your case did not meet the expectation.

We would be more than happy to offer you a second chance to try us out. I've reached out to you by email to see if you're open to trying us out again.

Best
Team Anan

I was initially surprised that the location of the highest rated restaurant was so off the beaten track- however the interior of the restaurant is lovely.

We tried the eight course signature menu and it was delicious as well as visually appealing. We had a slight delay and sat at the bar for five minutes as it was very busy for which the manager was very apologetic. We didn't mind in the slightest and enjoyed done of their cocktails as we waited. Our food arrived promptly and the service was excellent.

Unfortunately the rice ball dessert was not to my particular taste, but trying different foods was the point of the menu so I was very happy. We particularly enjoyed the crab and the beef courses!

I recommend booking in advance and having a light lunch so you can fully enjoy the experience!
