This place is perfect . We are a family of five and wanted a traditional experience .
Firstly , the initial contacts with owner were so positive . Fast responses and honest answers to our questions . The communication and preparation before our trip was first class .
On arrival we were overwhelmed by the surrounding gardens and pool around villa ; straight away we knew why it was called Butterfly villa , flowers and butterfly’s surrounding the area .
The villa itself ... STUNNING Beautiful wooden features , heaps of space and immactuatly clean : fresh fruit and drinks to greet us . And to our surprise mosquitos nets which were appreciated .
We couldn’t believe our eyes as we walked to the end of the garden to the most incredible beach , tranquil clear ; calm and very clean . It was a dream .
There are plenty of places to eat and drink along the beach ,( also quiet ) where you can enjoy snacks, lunch or a three course meal : we loved Four monkeys for cocktails and light lunches looking out to the ocean a wonderful chef whom made the most amazing seafood Thai spaghetti .it's a ten minute walk along the beach left of villa. On the right we would highly recommend Jun hom restaurant where we enjoyed traditional Thai curries ; seafood and noodles .
The area is quiet but if you are seeking a lively evening you can get a taxi into Chaweng which takes about 25 mins around £10 but we often got cheaper deals when bartering . For family of five taxis are cheaper than tut tut as they charge per person : Fisherman’s village is a must , livelier than Bang Por but not overly crowded The Friday night market here well worth a visit plenty of street food : Nathon another small village that worth a visit . Our family enjoyed the street food as much as we did eating in restaurants , fresh and delicious and obviously cost effective
We dived with “dive academy” in fishermen’s village we would highly recommend this company and if you consider any excursions makes sure it’s Angthong Marine Park . Just beautiful .
The pool at the villa was always clean ; regular gardener on site , and cleaning staff were regular and provided such a high standard of work .
We also arranged through Ping Pong , (the villas rep) to hire a chef to come and cook at the villa .
You choose your dishes and pay for incredients and chefs time . This is a treat that’s worth every penny . We were in contact with ping pong regularly .He was fantastic , nothing was too much trouble and we enjoyed his company .
Our experience was absolutely incredible . There is nothing we would change other than we wish we could have stayed . PARADISE
Thankyou Mr and Mrs Smart and to Pingpong

“Peace, Pad Thai and Pool time”

*WARNING* This review is very long so feel free to skip down to my point form on the pros and cons!
Our family of 5 (including 3 teenagers) rented Butterfly Villa for 7 memorable nights. Most of our days were spent lazing by the pool, walking the beach during sunrise and sunset, planning which local establishment we would dine at for dinner and indulging in fabulous, inexpensive ($12/hr) Thai massages.
The villa itself was very spacious and adequately stocked with most of what you need while on holiday.

Our only minor complaints would be ...
-the towels, appliances and dishware could use some updating/refreshing - however, the blender is great and makes smoothies quickly and mixes well!
-being that it is SO humid and hot, it would be nice to have air con in the living room/kitchen area - there were only fans.
- we were feeling lazy and too hot most of the time so without a dishwasher, the dishes piled up :(
- while the beach by the villa is beautiful, I wish someone had told me that the sand is not your typical picture perfect powder white sand that you see in Chewang or on the east coast of Samui. The sand is more course and a bit difficult to walk in without flip flops for those with tender feet!
- if you are looking for action beyond dinner out, this location would be a bit challenging unless you had a car or scooter. (You could also look up a driver who goes by 'Mr Samui' on trip advisor. We hired him 7 or 8 times over our stay on Samui - you won't regret it - he is friendly, reliable, is fluent in English and the best tour guide on the island!)

That being said the things that made our vacation great were the important things such as ...
- the beautiful, peaceful beach - great for long walks, playing volleyball, shelling, sunrises to the right, sunsets to the left.
- the clean, refreshing, infinity pool with beautiful views of the ocean - the pool was on the larger side and was very quiet with often only our family swimming.
- proximity to fantastic and inexpensive Ma and Pop Thai restaurants - the restaurant closest to the villa and to the right was our favorite, the restaurant at The Sea has great ambiance, the restaurants to the left were plentiful and offered a wide variety of seafood. If sticky rice with mango isn't your favorite dessert there is a family mart within walking distance of the villa for Magnum ice cream bars!
- the service from the management (Ping Pong) was exceptional. We felt there was nothing to great to ask of him! We had one small issue with a shower not draining properly which we immediately texted Ping Pong about and a handy man was at our villa within a few hours to rectify.
- the cleanliness of the villa was to a high standard. While there, the cleaning crew came in twice and with 3 teenagers in the villa it was greatly appreciated!
- booking with the owner was straight forward and without any cause for concern. All of our questions were answered quickly and efficiently.

Finally, one of our favorite things about the villa was the view from the master bedroom. In the morning you see the pool below amidst the lush tropical gardens and just beyond the pool is the turquoise blue ocean. At night, before drifting off, we would watch several Chinese lanterns fade into the night sky!

All in all, I believe this villa would satisfy most travellers in search of tropical paradise and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

“Perfect for Quiet Family Vacation Away from Crowds”
Reviewed 16 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

This villa was a perfect size for two families with two small kids each. Having the pool and beach so close and accessible is a must for me for any island vacation. Also, Bang Po is a very quiet area - there are no full moon parties, no parties at all actually, and barely any lighting on the beach if you are walking home from dinner late!

The villa is well stocked with linens and kitchen ware, but has no coffee machine and the appliances are a bit worn (the fridge broke down when we were there, it was fixed quickly but we did lose supplies, and the blender is good for about 5 revolutions). There is no aircon in the main lounge room, and the fans were tricky to get going. Bugs were not a big problem, but we did want to keep things closed up at night. There are no shower amenities provided, so bring your own soap/shampoo/etc. There was dish soaps and plenty of towels and floor mats.

Set your expectations properly: there are 6 villas in this little complex that share the pool and beach access. This was no problem for us, but might have been for the other guests as our kids were up splashing in the pool at 7am! The beach is nice and clean, and sandy out to knee depth 20 or so meters out. Then there is a shallow reef you have to navigate for another 50m to get out to a deep section if you want to swim. So, good for lounging, not for swimming.

The outdoor lounge area is really only fit for about 6 people, the table has 6 chairs and it can start to get crowded (we had to sit 2 kids on laps for meals). If it rains, there is not much to do in the villa - bring games/books/toys. There are basic provisions available in the convenience store (Family Mart) and surrounding shops, but if you like coffee in the morning, bring your own grounds & french press. This goes for any specific food requirements. We found it easiest to cook for ourselves in the mornings, get takeaways from the street shops for lunch (our favorite was the THAI FOOD/PAD THAI shop across from Family Mart) and walk out on the beach for dinner (two restaurants to the right and several to the left - the last with fairy lights being our favorite).

We did two snorkeling trips, both recommended. One was through the management, we chartered a long boat to the 5 islands area. Second we went to the Marine Park, booking with Lomlahk in town (40 person boat, with kayaking and snorkeling). We also enjoyed kayaking in front of the villa. The 3 kayaks next door to the left are available to the residents of coconut.

I found the owner and management very responsive, I communicated to her with WhatsApp, which was really convenient. Hope you enjoy your stay!

Thank you for your comprehensive review and constructive comments.
We have taken action and have now replaced the appliances mentioned which do deteriorate quite quickly in the humid climate of Koh Samui.
We are also in the process of providing two further dining chairs to make the total up to 8.

“Absolute Paradise”
Reviewed 4 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We have just had the most idyllic holiday, thank you. The house is stunning with its Thai style and all mod-cons, with a fab pool with a view down to the chilled out paradise beach. It was so handy being able to arrange an airport pick up and welcome hamper for when we arrived, although we discovered a local mini mart and 24hr Family Mart just down the road when we got here which we're very handy.

We had such a relaxing time with plenty of places to chill out in the sun on the beach, on loungers by the pool and in the shade under parasols or on the large balcony. Loved discovering all of the fab local restaurants down the beach for breakfast lunch and dinner - delicious fresh seafood at places like Armando's, Sunset Reggae Bar and Bang Por seafood. We even found amazing coffee at the cute Four Monkeys cafe and some nights we even got take out from the little place across the road Hom Chana (great crab which we ordered in advance). We had a few days out exploring the island and rented a car from the very helpful lady next door.

I would highly recommend staying at Butterfly Villa, it really is paradise - a stunning house, with beautiful gardens, pool and beach and in the perfect location.

Thank you for all the quick replies to emails and helping to

“Heaven and paradise”

What a magnificient place to spend time with the family. We were 10 of us, ages from 2 till 70 ! everyone had a great time. The pool was superb, it suited everyone. The weather was great - a bit too hot at times but with the pool there we were able to cool down quickly. There was always a bit of shade for those who prefer it. It was spotless, had all what you needed. Katharina make sure you had a great time.
There are a few shops close by and some excellent and good value restaurant within walking distance. Food will be delivered if needs be. A very successful holiday to be repeated.
