We stayed four nights here as part of a tour of the continent.
The positives were that the hotel is just on the outskirts of the Old City, about a ten minute walk to the walls, however they also arrange shuttle buses to (but not return) the old city as well as the night market. Also free airport transfer. The general area at first seems a bit third world, but actually the little food places they have on the walk to the hotel actually became our favourite choice for dinner.
The room was beautiful. We had a jacuzzi room, which was very nice and spacious and beautifully decorated. There were mosquitos, not a huge problem, we just bought coils for the room, which did the trick.
The one flaw unfortunately is the communication of the reception staff. They are very friendly, but their English is poor. For the price we paid (its mid-range), we would have expected better.
Pool decent size for a frollick rather than a swim. Only 3 sun loungers, but never more than one couple in the pool while we were there.
Breakfast was good.
On the whole a great experience and would stay again.

Room Tip: get the jacuzzi room

We spent six nights here on our first ever visit to Chiang Mai and I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
It is so quaint and the staff are so friendly that we wanted to extend our stay.
The food was delicious, cooked fresh to order and very reasonably priced.
The reception staff booked several trips for us, made sure we had all the essentials before we left and asked us all about our experience when we returned.
Everything was top notch and we will definitely return.

We stayed for 5 nights at Thannatee hotel and were overall happy with our choice.
Staff: very friendly; some language limitations though (which became problematic when we wanted to pay with credit card for a tour we had booked and the receptionist did not manage to explain to us why we could not do that (which was a bit problematic as we were running out of cash).
Location: outside the city walls but relatively close to hist. center (about 10 min. walk to two of the main city gates – at the one, Mai gate, you can find street food till about midnight as well as Lotus Tesco and 7/11 shops that remain open all night; the roads are very safe) Furthermore, free shuttle service to various spots of the city & airport (though no free pick-up from airport was offered), just book 15 min. in advance.
Breakfast: not exceptional but ok (you can order what kind of eggs you want; some Asian dishes (though not signed out if suitable for vegetarians/vegans; no cheese; no fresh juice). Breakfast served inside, across reception (not sufficient tables).
Restaurant: we did not eat lunch or dinner at the hotel, but from what we saw, prices were a bit high.
Room: our room was on the front side of the building , on the third floor. On the plus side, the room was very atmospheric and we had a balcony (with a slanted table). On the negative side, there was a construction site across our room (early morning noise) and no elevator. The room itself was seriously tiny - not sufficient space for suitcases to open suitcases or even place. When both my husband and I were in the room, it got really crowded and I began feeling claustrophobic. Beds were comfy. Slippers and bathrobes provided, but slippers were NOT complimentary (which made me wonder whether you actually get used slippers to wear!). Balcony door has mosquito net but no mosquito repellent for room.
Bathroom: tiny as well (shower and WC together; no curtain). Warm water for shower took ages to reach our room in the third floor. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided in dispensers. 2 towels per person (the one too small for the head).
Cleanliness: The room was overall clean though there were cobwebs in the bathroom.
Wifi: Throughout hotel; relatively ok in the room (though you always need to log on again, even if you just go for breakfast).

Stayed here 3 nights during trip to Chiang Mai. Picked us up from airport and effortlessly checked in. Rooms were small but fine and having to walk over stepping stones to get there is an experience.

Breakfast good. Bit out of the main aread but only a 10 min walk. One to consider if going to Chaing Mai.

This hotel is fabulous if you want a traditional experience, basic room is on the small side but you can pay more for a larger room. Air con and wifi included, rooms are beautiful and traditional in decor, slightly away from the bustle of the old town but this is great as it is relaxing and calm. There is a free shuttle bus to take you into town if required although only a 15 mins walk. Best service we have received so far in Thailand, the receptionist even books any trips you want and have arranged a breakfast box for the morning we leave early for a trip, nice touch.
