I love this place, the staff are fantastic and super accomodating, breakfast, lunch and dinner is fantastic.
I had a room on the 16th floor and the view was not to bad all. If you like your air conditioners cold then these are (well for a guy that works outside in Darwin at least :) ), The in service tour booking desk was bloody good and staff are fantastic.
I had a fruit basket on arrival and a big bag of goodies containing fruit juice, chocolates, biscuits etc etc was delivered a very short time after checking in. There were complimentary gifts at dinner time and flowers for the ladies.
I had no problems with WiFi in the rooms
The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the Night Bazaar.

I don't really know how much more I can praise the Empress except to say that I will be staying here when I return to Chiang Mai again in the future and will be recommending it to anyone the comes here.

Room Tip: Do your research.

Hotel was excellent. Rooms nicely appointed and quiet. Staff attentive to your needs and very friendly. Stayed for 5 days. All meals were included and food was excellent and always fresh and hot. Great variety to be found and something different every meal.
Highly recommend for any international conference

There are great plusses to the Empress, the fantastic swimming pool, breakfasts and the many complementary gifts among them.
There are also annoyances such as the refusal to provide 2 room keys and therefore the inability to leave aircon on (easily fixed though by detaching your key from the pad that operates the aircon). Also we were refused an iron on the basis of safety which is cleary ridiculous to an experienced and trustworthy 60+ . But staff would not be budged and won this one.
Housekeeping can be erratic in amenities they forget to leave and their stingey allowance of one toilet roll a day - come on guys this is Thai food we are all eating!
Still we loved our stay and would probably return.

7 times in one day I called the reception about the Wifi. If you take your phone outside , and come back , you loose your wife. Then you have to log in every time you come back. But this only start if someone from the staff come to your room and fix it for you. So this wifi they promise you will work only sometimes if you get assistance from the lobby. Don't try to fix it yourself, call the resection and make them come to your room, or you will newer have Wifi. There is only one place you can smoke , and that is outside in the front of the hotel. But if you go there , there will be something waiting for you : Miskitos. Wery wery many moskitos. So I would newer recommend this hotel to anyone who smoke, and want wifi . Ok room , but no balcony. Wery small bath where there will be water everywhere if you take a shower . Newer again

Hotel was very nice with large rooms. Everything was clean. Lobby was modern and bright with lots of seating. Lovely flowers and fruit in the room upon check-in. Service was excellent in all areas. Breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of choices for both Asian and Western tastes.

Bathroom could use an upgrade as it was quite small and dark. Also, the wifi was the worst we had in our entire 4 week trip to SE Asia. They really need to do something about that.

Overall we were happy and would stay here again.
