Hotel OK, nothing special, but definitely not a four stars hotel in my opinion. Room was clean, hotel pool fine, meals in hotel restaurant OK. Location not far from town centre. All in all an average experience.

I completed the Mae Hong Son loop and stayed at De Lanna for the last stop of our journey.

Location wise, it is not too bad, being located in town and it was quiet as well.

We were housed in the old wing facing the pool and while convenient, does not offer a lot of privacy. We had to keep the curtains drawn most of the time as the tables at the pool side face our unit directly.

The rooms were okay, with comfortable bed and sheets. TV had a good range of channels. However, our safe was working intermittently and we decided to not use it in the end.

The toilets were well appointed, but a very big issue I had was the terrible upkeep of the walls and flooring, which made it feel dirtier than it really was. It needs some TLC and a coat of paint.

Our room had a very noisy aircon compressor which kept me up all night, but I was too tired after my trip to change my room.

Breakfast was average, typical hotel buffet fare. Not enjoyable at all. What got me was the other rooms do look more appealing and we seemed to be given the short end of the stick.

Don't bother with their wifi, slow speeds as it is shared with multiple connections.

I would not recommend this hotel and you'll find more value at other inns.

Room Tip: Stay away from the pool facing, ground floor units if you would like some privacy.

Dear lovely guests,

Normally, many of our guests like the ground floor facing the pool. However, if you don't like it you can ask for room switching at the receptionist. However, if you felt that you has been given the short end of the stick from our services, you can complaint it at our front desk staffs as well. In the high season period with many customers sometimes our staffs cannot serve you fast enough or you feel they do not pay enough attention to you as it should be, please do understand that they are doing their job at their best, but with an overload of number of customers (2 waitress at the buffet restaurant VS 120 customers a day), sometimes they might not be able to taking care you as you expected. By the way, we will improve that to our services. We do treat our guests at best and equally; however, if you feel some guests look like we treated them better than you, you can talk to our manager about this as well and we will sort out you the solution and compensation as you deserve to get it from our services. Thank you again for your valuable comments.

Sincerely yours,

It is not my first stay in this hotel, but I do not recommend to stay here if you arrive in the evening. Their airport transfer is closing already at 8 pm, and the taxi system in the airport is very chaotic at night. In addition they did not save a nice quiet room as promised, but put us in a room on the ground floor very close to the restaurant,

The best thing about this hotel is the location.

Dear lovely guests,

Sorry for your unpleasant stay. Normally, when we promised our guests about the room relocation, we can do it as we promised. I am not sure how our staffs promised you about the room. Did you already ask for the upper floor room with them before in the email conversation? If you did not ask for the room flavor, normally we will locate you in the available rooms we have when we received the booking. So, in this case, I don't know how you and my staffs communicate to each other before you came to check in. However, I will see this point and will improve our services in order to complete our customers' satisfactions and needs. Thank you again for your valuable comments.

Sincerely yours,

We stayed at the De Lanna hotel for 2 nights in December. The hotel is located on the western side of Old City. If you're going to see some of the temples in old city this is a great location, but it's far from the Night Market.

The room was fine. Nothing special but it was clean and suited our needs. The shower was frustrating though - it kept switching between super hot water and ice cold water which made showering pretty unpleasant.

The hotel breakfast buffet was large and had a good selection. We had some pretty terrible breakfasts in Thailand so this was a plus. They had both American and Thai options.

The hotel wasn't incredibly helpful when it came to organizing activities/transportation. We wanted to go to the sticky waterfalls and when we asked our hotel for a taxi they said they were all taken for the day. We had to go to another tour office to get a driver (they had no problem finding one). Our flight out of ChiangMai was at 6:30am so after the taxi crisis we were worried about getting a ride. When we asked the hotel they said no taxis or Tuk tuks would be available at 4:30Am so we would need to book a transfer with them for 350 baht. When we were on our way to the airport there were tons of red pickup trucks (taxis) and tuk tuks around!

Overall the de Lanna hotel was satisfactory, but don't expect to be amazed. I don't think my husband and I would stay there again because of the shower issue.

Dear lovely guests,

Sorry for your unpleasant experience while staying with us. Normally, the shower is working well. However, it might have some technical issues about the transfer pump. We will see and find the way to make it smooth. For the taxi issues, Firstly, with the tour to waterfall, we have an outsource tour desk operator in the hotel that we do not operate the tour, but we rent it out for an outsource tour operator. We will inform our tour operator about your comments. Secondly, with the taxi to the airport with early morning. In our old town area in that early morning is very hard to find a red truck taxi or tuk tuk. It is more safer for you to reach the airport by using our taxi or our taxi partner. That's why you need to book it before time because if you come to the road and wait for tuk tuk or red truck taxi, you might be in trouble with catching up the plane. The early morning rate that we charged you are reasonable (you can check the rate through taxi's company in Chiang mai). Thank you for your comments and we will do our best to improve all aspects to serve all guests' needs and desires.

This hotel surrounds a pretty courtyard with a pool and seating area for the hotel bar/restaurant. All rooms have a patio or balcony overlooking this space which is whimsical with lanterns and koi ponds. The rooms are comfortable and functional: good mattress, slippers etc. breakfast is included and the offerings are wide ranged.

The best thing about the hotel is the combo of quiet and great location for sightseeing, shopping, eats and massages.

We ate at the hotel restaurant which was actually delicious.
