First and last time staying there. I contacted Ascott to ask if the hotel had quiet rooms as we have a 2 year old. The Ascott team in Philippines responded in a reasonable time frame and put me in touch with the reservation team at Citadines Soi 11 and Somerset Soi 35 and neither one of them replied even up until now a week later. I decided to try the Citadines Soi 11. I requested a quiet room and a crib for the baby. Upon arrival there were 4 females at the reception, none of which were smiling and none greeted us in the traditional Thai manner with smiles and politeness. Normally in thailand this is standard as well as a courtesy and sign of respect. They had no interest in the baby either which was a bit strange to see. Not sure if any of them have been trained properly but after living and traveling extensively throughout thailand for many years it was the worst greeting I have experienced. Pretty hard to believe they all had a bad day and weren’t just completely unprofessional. When we got to the 5th floor we realized our room was next to the elevators which to me doesn’t sound like a quiet room. The hotel itself is very run down and old. Nothing like the website at all. I know that websites embellish but this was total bs, the hotel was nothing like on the site. The room smelled awful of burnt bbq meat, which was coming through the AC units, obviously from some street vendor below or one of the many restaurants around that are open all hours of the night. The shower in the bathroom had no door on it so the floor became totally soaked and a slippery death trap, just a stupid idea altogether!! Despite our request there was no crib in the room either. We called down and the lady was very rude, I was starting to become perturbed with the behavior but let it go as usual. Thankfully we had a busy trip and were away from the hotel most of the time, only there to try and sleep. Unfortunately that was hard to come by as the sounds of the street, tuk tuks, music, etc. were constantly waking us and the baby…….it was awful. We only had a few days so I didn’t bother changing hotels but will definitely not stay there or any of their other properties again. I have used Ascott numerous times which are okay, better than the Citadines for sure, but they should be embarrassed to be partnered with such substandard accommodations. Upon check out I had to request the bill from the lady at reception, how do they not know to give you a bill and not just the card slip????? Amazingly bad from top to bottom. The only good thing at all was the pub downstairs which was like a separate planet all together as they had good service, food and the staff had personality and manners!! It was open 24 hours though which also meant more drunken fools about creating more noise.
