Perfectly located. Evocative and atmospheric. Live music in bar at night. Delicious breakfast. This has become my favorite hotel in bangkok. So many wonderful touches--the designer really did his or her job well. And it felt surprisingly open and spacious. I loved it!

Dear 246NancyDrew,

Thank you for your kind words. Shanghai Mansion is inspired by the glamorous and evocative spirit of Shanghai, circa 1930s. I am so happy you enjoyed the live music. Our Red Rose Jazz Lounge, with a fantastic vibe, hosts the best live jazz bands in the area and attracts folks from all over Bangkok! Thank you, and we look forward to welcoming you again in the near future.

I am regular guest at the Shanghai Mansion Bangkok, therefore you would expect my number of positive aspects concerning this hotel to decrease as time goes on, however this is not the case, the rooms are large and well fitted out all very individually decorated, great color and style,
The breakfast buffet is a delight to try every day with additional special items on the menu which are explained and highly recommended by the service team, and I might add very filling, the outlet is also open for lunch and dinner all AC, there is also another all day dining outlet on the ground floor both open air or AC, you can eat drink listen to the live band in the evening or just watch Chinatown Bangkok go by, which is always interesting, add to this the great personal service, from all the team fro the bell boys to the warm welcome at the reception desk (cold towels and sweet drinks on arrival) very welcome, to the selection of packet snacks placed around the hotel for guest to try or to take back to the room,
as an addition to the free beer soft drinks potato chips and cookies all free in the mini bar and daily topped up, plus 4 large bottles of water daily all of which most hotel would happily charge you for at a premium, without all of the nice little extras this would still be a great hotel,
however these and other additions to the service provided make this a Great hotel with a capital G.
there is also a cool quiet and lavender scented Spa within the hotel, which is much more pleasant than any of the other spa and massage parlors and very reasonably priced, Sorry I forgot to mention the rooms team, very thorough daily room refreshing, crisp lined on the bed and fluffy towels, and a freindly smile, a truly great place to say

This hotel is simply amazing. From the fast and efficient check in to the amazing room decor. The whole hotel is just stunning inside. The Rose restaurant attached serves the best duck I have ever eaten with a fantastic jazz band and great cocktail menu. Breakfast seems a little pricey at 10 euro per person but the quality is outstanding and we'll worth it. Transfers/taxis can be arranged for local rates at the front of hotel after a little banter with them. Best hotel i have stayed in, in Bangkok. A must for sure.

Dear Conkers23,

Thank you for your kind words about Shanghai Mansion. We could not agree with your more -- our Red Rose Restaurant serves the best Peking Duck and cocktails, topped off with live jazz, nightly. Regarding our breakfast, you are correct to note our dedication to providing a good value for the meal. Our kitchen uses the highest quality ingredients, and our breakfast includes an ample, generous buffet, as well as an a la carte menu with your selection made to order fresh. We keep a close eye on our pricing, and remain competitive with other hotels offering comparable menus. Thank you again for your kind remarks and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

We stayed in two different Bangkok hotels before and after a tour. This was definitely the better of the two. Don't judge its very unassuming exterior but the moment you hit the lobby its ace. It was lovely to come from a very Westernized chain hotel to a real taste of Asian culture in the heart of Chinatown. The style is great and its immaculately clean. It was a nice touch that the mini bar was complimentary and that there is a complimentary Tuk Tuk service. You really can't go wrong with this hotel.
