Smiling Albino and our private guide Ms Kob provided a perfect day of sight-seeing for my traveling companion and me today. We wanted to see the main sites of Bangkok, but in such a manner that exposed us to the rhythms of the city. Which is to say, despite the heat, we didn't want to isolate ourselves in an air-conditioned van all day. Smiling Albino was just the ticket. We had a grand time seeing the main attractions, by subway, tuk tuk, boat, motorcycle, and foot. If that sounds exhausting... it wasn't. Ms Kob handled all the ticketing and personally knew all the vendors, so the process was easy and graceful. Also, she was knowledgeable, fun and flexible, so as the vibe of the day would ebb and flow, so would our pace and itinerary. (She even added an impromptu treat of a locals-only foot massage to assuage the rigors of the 100-degree heat!) If you're looking for a tour that is more personal and more fun, and, while not too rigorous, also exposes you to the city a bit more... we highly recommend this company.

Since it was our first time in Southeast Asia, we thought booking a guide for Bangkok for our first day would be a good way to dive in. It turned out to be the perfect introduction to the city.

Our guide, Ann, was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. She arranged an itinerary that was tailored to our interests and included some markets off the tourist track, Bangkok's largest flower market, a couple of must-see sites (Wat Pho and the incredible Grand Palace), a great lunch, our first tuk tuk ride, a river ferry ride, a long-tail boat and walking tour of a canal neighborhood (including a visit to an artist's house/neighborhood creative space), etc. We also learned to use the Skytrain, which we took quite a lot on our own later during our stay.

We also booked a second day with Smiling Albino to visit Ayutthaya, the old capital of Thailand 1-2 hours north of Bangkok. Ann arrived promptly again and we also had a wonderful driver for the day. We stopped first at a large active Buddhist temple in Ayutthaya and were lucky to see a ceremony in which the large central Buddha statue was being dressed in new saffron fabric. After that we went to see several sites of the ruins of the old city, which were impressive (NOTE: Smiling Albino originally listed this part of the trip as a bike tour and I'm glad we opted not to see the ruins that way because it was incredibly hot and the various sites we visited were not close to one another.). We had a fantastic lunch at a restaurant that was not in any way a tourist spot (we were the only non-Thais and the other diners were cops on lunch breaks alongside families and groups of friends). After lunch we had a wonderful long-tail boat ride around Ayutthaya and then stopped for some local sweets before the drive back to Bangkok.

I thought Smiling Albino did a great job and our guide was personable, informative and funny. Highly recommended.

The reason we give 5 stars here is because we can not give 6. We are a young family from Germany with two kids < 5 and we had the best holiday ever with Albino. The selection of hotels was awesome, the itinerary flawless and the guides and drivers offered an incredible added value to our trip. Many many things would have been missed without them and they were fun and joyful to spend time with. We fully recommend traveling with Smiling Albino and we will do so again ourselves, as soon as time permits.

My wife and I had about 10 days to spend in Thailand. Rather than taking our usual approach to travel, which involves more time researching and planning than actually spent traveling, we decided to take it easy and book a tour where all the logistics of hotels and transportation are taken care of. We came across Smiling Albino's "Siamese Dream" (3 days around Bangkok and 6 up in the Chiang Rai area) which really appealed to us because it included hiking, kayaking and biking, but could be tailored to whatever we felt up for at the time.

Having all the planning, reserving, transportation, tickets, gear rental, etc handled by someone else, was great and Smiling Albino delivered to the fullest in this respect. This went well beyond saving some time and hassle planning and booking things. Without doubt, we experienced so much more than we would have on our own.

The guides made the real difference. Tse showed us around Bangkok, allowing us the sample the various methods of transportation and food at street vendors, while telling us about what it was like to live and work in the city. He was our personal tour guide throughout sharing his extensive knowledge of culture, architecture and history.

In the north Berm and Jip and our driver Song took care of us for the entire six days. Mountain biking through country roads, kayaking, elephant riding and trekking always finished with cool wet towels and fresh fruit in an air conditioned van. They took us to restaurants and order a range of dishes allowing us to sample food we would never have tried otherwise. All this time we were provided with background in the culture, day to day life, and history of what we were seeing. One of the real treats was when Berm took us on hikes up to mountain villages where we gave goodies to the children and visited families in their homes.

tl;dr: Smiling Albino, and particularly the guides, allowed us to experience so much more than we would have otherwise. We’ll be looking for what they have to offer for our next visit to Southeast Asia.

My friend and I visited Bangkok for the first time last week. We weren't sure what to expect of the city and what we would do on the tour. Our tour guide was Poy. She was so friendly, fun, amazing, accommodating, sweet and knowledgable. We cannot say enough good things about her!!! She was always on time and made sure we were comfortable. She always gave us the option to opt out of something if we were too tired or too hot. We had such a great time with her that we felt like we were site seeing with a friend! We highly recommend working with the people from Smiling Albino. They are so professional made our trip extremely enjoyable.
