walk within 10 minutes to the city centre Thamel, but very dusty after earthquake, dogs bark in the night time and owner family lived downstairs, nice and helplful but noisy with kids around, may be it is in their holidays.

Thanks for staying with us. We will try to correct whatever we can. Sorry the kids in the neighborhood had holiday for season break and we also has relatives visiting over one day. We have mentioned in our description as well as in corespondent email that this is not apartment hotel but a local residential area with families living around. So this is more a place to live like local.
Regarding the dust, Kathmandu is going through transition and there is digging going on for pipeline, road widening and demolition rebuilding after earthquake.
Municipality tried to poison street dogs in Kathmandu and the number reduced from 30,000 to 25,000 /- But people couldn't tolerate the painful death of any creature and the campaign was aborted in the middle. Now they are trying to neuter female dogs which is very slow process but human.
Thanks and hope you see you again as the transition will be over soon and Kathmandu is going to be much better place.

“Great place to stay - particularly if you are familiar with Kathmandu”

I stayed here for two weeks in October, including during the festival season of Dashain. I usually stay in hotels in Thamel when I'm in Kathmandu. This was a much cheaper alternative and had the added value of my own kitchen and lovely terrace. My hosts lived in the ground floor. They were friendly and welcoming, but I had all the privacy I needed. The house is very close to Thamel (about 5-10 minutes walk). The main drawback is that you need to cross a very busy road to get anywhere by foot. After the road from Nayer Bazaar was widened the traffic is even worse, and crossing the road during rush hour or after dark is a very risky business. For this reason, I would primarily recommend the apartment to people who are not easily intimidated or used to these kinds of traffic conditions.

Thanks for staying with us, appreciation and the review making things much clearer for future clients.
Regarding the road crossing, traffic is crazy everywhere in Kathmandu. There is a nice vehicle free backstreet to get to Thamel from the home. You come to a point where there is Zebra crossing and a traffic policeman managing traffic. Normally we organize a familiarization walk explaining everything and showing them best place to eat, visit and showing them ways. But you have been here before and you were with your Nepalese friends most of the time. Also as you know they have just widened the road in Sorakhutte, they will also have convenient overhead crossing in future.
So I am hopeful that things will get much better and convenient in future and also hope to see you again.

This spacious studio apartment is perfect for several reasons.

You are super close to Thamel, but still not in the pure touristy world. Several things to visit are in walking distance. It is quiet, and the rooftop view is just amazing. The hosts are some of the most wonderful people you will find in the whole country. Rabi is happy to help you organize day trips, tours and longer treks and, if you are eager to learn about about it, will give you expert advice regarding places to visit, the country and its culture, politics, economy, religion, etc. I had a very good time in this home stay, which definitely felt like a home.

“good quality appartment near Thamel”

This appartement is basic, yet very clean and it has everything you need. The owner is very nice and friendly. Also the location is good, less then ten minutes walk from Thamel. There are many small shops around. There is often wifi. The best thing is the outside area, where you can sit and overlook the neighborhoud with view of the surrounding mountains and Swayambu nath. The nights in this neighborhood are surprisingly calm and silent. It's perfect for one or two people who don't mind the short walk to Thamel. I would certainly stay here again. An excellent alternative for those who prefer not to stay in a hotel.
