We visited as part of an organised tour. Unfortunately the heavens had opened but it didn't really distract from us looking round. We saw the fruit bats hiding in the trees. Our excellent Connexions guide talked us round the garden. The water lilys are amazing. Definitely worth a trip - would be a great place for a picnic when the sun is shining.

Unfortunately as soon as we arrived we were hit by a long and heavy downpour and had to spend the first hour of our visit under a shelter, before renting out some umbrellas to be able to walk around once it let off a bit,
The gardens are beautiful and fairly large, the only down side is the lack of signs with information about plants (name, origin, uses). The chateau inside appeared to be closed although we'd read somewhere that you could visit it, and the sugar factory had no signs with explanations about the activities.
Also, the spice garden featuring all the medicinal plants should be bigger and easier to navigate, with plants more clearly labelled.
Overall a beautiful place and a must see if only for the vegetation itself!

A cool place to relax and walk in a superb botanical garden. Very clean, the place is easy to walk through. There is some shops close by to buy water and food.

It is a cool experience beautiful places but I do not get why they have to keep deers closed in a tiny area... you can also see some giant turtles but if you love nature I ‘d recommend you to go the Aigrettes island
