Great place but so many things unexpected

Review of Hotel Oubangui
2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 17 Oct 2018
I really appreciate the view of the Oubangui river. But my room was on the 11th floor and the lift didn't stop to break down. It was a nightmare to ride all these stairs. And the restaurant was very slow.

The price is very cheap so if you want to go to this place you will have a good room with a view of the Oubangui river but you have to be prepared to be disappointed in something.

It is true that the building is run down and the elevator is frequently out of order, what is not very comfortable when you have a room at the 8.th floor or above. Neither kitchen is doing a great job nor the receptionist when they loose your reservation.
But according to me it is the best place in town when it comes to outlooks and location. In my view, that compensates for several weaknesses. Nobody can claim not to like the hotel's island as kind of side dish, for instance on Sundays when there is a lot of live music. But always, hanging round at the island, beside the river provides an amazing escape from Bangui stress.

Room tip: Do not enter without checking your room, always keep a plan B, as they might loos your reservation.

Stay away from this place if possible. place is rundown, unsecure and pretty much dirty...I had no other choice but to stay there for 3 nights... well room on the 12th floor gave a breath taking view, however elevator did not work 90% of the time, so trips up and down a stairwell in not so attractive. restaurant food is just simply terrible, ordered a grilled chicken and got something in resemblance of chicken bones and burned skin, with some fat, tho. WiFi only worked in the hotel lobby...

Nothing spectacular to tell about this hotel and the rooms, and the food ,but they have organized a splendid and original walk along a path to a place near the river where you have a splendid view, and can actually see the Equator Province in the RDC. They offer a cold beer, but was chased me away before sunset on the pretext of security, so the evening ended in being a bit of a downer. Swimming pool is cloudy with beatles swimming in it. So pretty much very ordinary standards for the city of Bangui. Helpful people at the reception. So over all pretty much a sign of passed glory like so many places around here. Still recommend to give it a try.

Room tip: A room with a view on the river

The hotel is not much to write about, but the bar offers a unique and very nice view over the Oubangui river. You can sit there at sun-dawn and sip on a drink or a cold beer watching all the activity on the river. You can also see D.R.C. (Congo) on the other side of the river bank.

Room tip: visit the bar on the river

The HOTEL is very nice, but all the time is full, you need time to request a room. The view around the Hotel is SENSATIONAL, WONDERFULL! Big Rocks, restaurant, lake, boat, FORMIDABLE VIEW to other Country Congo!

Room tip: wondefull view! excellent to relax, walk
