I liked the setting, the food and the service. It was a nice oasis -- with a good wine list -- in a city that can try your patience.

A small piece of paradise run by an expat Frenchman with great cuisine. I highly recommend the andouillette and the lamb chops - brings the best of France to the CAR. S & B
Relais des Chasses is a nice little restaurant in Bangui, within walking distance of Hotel du Centre. The food was good, there was a band on Saturday night, and there is a nice shaded patio/courtyard area to sit and catch a breeze. I think they have rooms to rent also if you want to stay there.
Certainly Bangui's best-known and oldest functioning restaurant, Relais des Chasses is one of its best, ran by the French expatriate Freddy. The setting is nice and relaxed, with good decor in the interior, a covered terrace outside, and outdoor seating surrounded by greenery, in a really nice setting of wooden statues and French pétanque. Live music (at least one person with guitar, sometimes more) is played most nights. Service is good, although it could be improved. Food is excellent for Bangui standards, and the menu comprises French and international specialities, some African dishes, as well as pizza and pasta. Almost without exception, every dish is good. The wine selection is good, with new regular arrivals from France, and tap beer is also available. Prices are reasonable.
