Take a short break from your hurried tourist pace and come visit here. Sit in a pew and feel the prayers of the saints that have worshipped here for 175 years. Try to attend the service in Hawaiian and English at 9am Sunday am. The congregants have REAL aloha, not the superficial kind for tourists. We were brought to tears at the beautiful service.

We attended the 9:00 AM Sunday Worship Service on the First Sunday of Advent, December 2017. It was lovely and decorated beautifully for Christmas. As guests, we were made to feel welcome and we were presented leis at the beginning of the service. Communion is available on the first Sunday of every month to all Christians. The church is celebrating its 197th Anniversary as a Christian church (Protestant). The service is given in Hawaiian and English and embraces its historic past as the National Church for the former Kingdom of Hawaii (pre-statehood). The architecture of the church itself is stunning and historic artwork and Hawaiian artifacts can be found throughout it. On the Sunday we visited, the service was conducted by Rev. James "Kimo" Merseberg, who I understand is a visiting pastor.

Built in 1842 it is a historic building with a significant number of missionary graves located in the garden at the rear of the building. Fortunately there was a sign at the main entrance suggesting to use the side entrance otherwise we may have disrupted the wedding that was underway inside.

I really enjoy visiting old churches. This particular church building, though not very large, is one of those old and remarkable churches. We were just able to peak through the side door to view the interior because there were wedding preparations going on.. I can only imagine the awesomeness of worshiping God in an environment like this.

One day after a long time walking in downtown ,I stopped in this church . Somebody was playing organ ,was very beautiful and relaxing . Atmosphere was very spritual . There was a fountain in the yard and a tomb that a very popular Hawaiian king had buried there . He didn't liked to be buried in king cemetery , liked to be between his people .
