We really wanted to like this hotel based on the reviews, but we just couldn't do it. Granted, as other reviewers have said, it is old and vintage, but we found it to be dark, musty and a bit depressing. All the rooms we saw were in dire need of updating and decoration. The bathroom fixtures were rusty and worn.
Location was fine and honestly we didn't see other hotels in Xela that looked better. Breakfast was included. There were a few options and all were good with generous portions.
Having said this though, Jose, one of the owners, was absolutely lovely and extremely helpful. Perhaps the hotel should earn a few extra stars on the basis of him.More
