This house is a gem. We had an incredibly romantic stay here to celebrate our engagement, but could easily see this as a group getaway and are already asking family and friends to join us next time! All of the comforts of home are provided—from dish soap to laundry detergent, beach towels to every type of drinking glass you could want, anything we needed was there! The house is stocked with shampoo, body wash, sunscreen, and bug spray, so no need for the hassle of packing lots of liquids next time! There’s even an outlet converter in the master bedroom (we didn’t need it since we’re from the US and Belize uses the same type of outlet, but were impressed to find it there). It’s clear that meticulous care was put into this home.
We both love to cook and were excited to use the chef’s kitchen, but must admit we ate almost all of our meals at the wonderful local restaurants. Being within walking distance of so many great restaurants is a luxury we’ve already come to miss now that we’re home. We visited Belize last year and stayed further north in Maya Beach and had a much better experience here since we could walk to everything in Placencia Village (it’s about a 15-minute walk from the house to the end of the peninsula).
We loved being able to walk out onto the beach and get right into the water. The water is waist-deep and mostly clear of rocks, coral, and fish, making it great for swimming and wading/jumping in the waves (not too much to look at, but there are loads of trips to the reefs for incredible snorkeling). Sometimes seaweed builds up on the shore, but the caretaker of the house clears it so no worries about that!
In Belize you’ll find no shortage of action-packed adventures, but fair warning: most days we couldn’t tear ourselves away from the house, so be sure to include time for relaxing in addition to exploring. We spent most of our time lounging on the covered balcony; it’s great to be outside but not in direct sunlight. The view of the ocean is spectacular! We loved watching pelicans hovering above the water then nose-diving into the waves to catch fish, and had a lot of fun looking at the boats on the water. There are binoculars in the entertainment unit so you can get a great up-close view.
All in all, we had an amazing time at the White House in Placencia, and it will NOT be our last!! We highly recommend this home for any getaway or luxurious escape!
