My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our most recent stay at the newly renovated Watergate hotel. The hotel was the perfect blend of vintage nostalgia and modern design. From the moment we arrived we found every member of staff to be very helpful and attentive in every sense of the word. The rooms were very comfortable . The plethora of on site amenities provides a variety of things to do thorough out the day and night. After settling in we hit the Top of the Gate rooftop bar to watch the sunset over drinks. We turned in early to watch movies and order room service. We woke up refreshed and began our day with a delicious breakfast on our balcony overlooking the omnious fog rolling in over the Potomac river. We spent the day getting pampered at the Argenta Spa and swam the afternoon away before getting dinner at King Bird. The entire experience was enjoyable!! Would do it again for sure.

Room Tip: Room with Balcony is the best!!

Dear WanderlusttoTravel,

What a magnificent story! It was a joy to host you both and we are thrilled that your visit allowed time to explore all that our urban oasis has to offer. From all of us at Argentta Spa, Top of the Gate, Kingbird and the hotel, it was a pleasure to spoil you both and we look forward to welcoming you time and again for years to come. In fact, if we can assist in planning your next romantic Washington escape, we invite you to be in touch.

I spent an evening here after visiting the Kennedy Center. It is convenient for theater-goers. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and informative.

The room that we were in, a river-view, was so cramped that the door would not fully open because it would hit the bed. Luckily, we were only staying for a night. But, I was a bit disappointed in such a DC landmark.

Dear Allison,

With The Kennedy Center just a short walk away, we have the pleasure of hosting theatre goers quite frequently and with Hamilton and other exceptional shows taking the stage in recent months, it has been an active season. We thank you and yours for joining us for your urban retreat and we appreciate the kind comments highlighting the welcoming spirit created by our Watergate colleagues. Your added comments are also of value and we apologize if the size of your room fell short of impressing and if a sold out situation prohibited us from offering exploration of other room categories. We thank you once more for joining us and we look forward to one day welcoming you back so that we can leave you fully impressed.

Warm Regards,

Jeff David

We stayed 3 nights and chose the hotel because we have friends who live next door. The staff are generally friendly, helpful and professional. The roof top bar has a great view of the Potomac. The Kingbird restaurant has a lovely dinner and cocktail menu--surprisingly wonderful food. Their breakfast service is also quite good with both buffet and menu options. Join the iPrefer rewards program to get extra perks like late checkout Hotel is located close to GW, walking distance of monuments and museums and not far from Georgetown. Room air conditioning didn't work/they replaced the unit and still didn't cool adequately. Nice balcony on the room and bed was comfortable. Bathroom did not have a tub or separate toilet area but had large shower. Lots of meetings going on downstairs so hotel appears to be good one for business events.

In full disclosure, I like DC history and mid-century modern architecture. If you like those, too, then I recommend going. Get a room with a view of the Potomac and Georgetown and you’re set. Amenities in the room are nice, especially the Nespresso maker (I still like having a coffee maker in my room — even in a luxury hotel). And the MCM furniture fits perfectly.

Rooftop bar has some of the best views of Pentagon, Arlington, Georgetown and of course the Potomac. Cocktails are well crafted.

From a visual aspect, Next Whisky bar is just plain cool, and the drinks are good, too.

Fitness center is very modern with TRX, a rowing machine and all the other usual stuff you’d expect.

Overall a great renovation of a simply fascinating piece of architecture in DC. I do hope that the shops outside the hotel may return to their bygone days of high end clothing or at least add to the renovation.

Dear JAG2021,

Our hotel offers a lot to be discovered for history enthusiasts and we hope your visit allowed time to tour our “Scandal Room”, the very room you have likely read about in classroom books. While our hotel occupies a unique place in American History, we hope you would agree that we are writing a new chapter given our recent renovation, endless amenities and the gracious hospitality that exudes from our team. It warms us to read that you had everything needed to feel right at home and we thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed account of your Watergate experience. On behalf of all of us at the hotel, we invite you to visit again and we encourage you to visit our website or be in touch when you are ready to plan your next urban retreat. Until then.

Warm Regards,

I was here with my wife over Labor Day weekend (to relax and see the play Hamilton). They offered a nice rate, but then there was the resort fee ($25) and the DC tax (14.8%). The room was very clean, quiet, and very modern with touchscreen controls. The bed and TV were nice. We did not really try their wifi network. The shower was nice, with a "rainforest" showerhead with decent water pressure plus a handheld shower fixture that had better pressure (you could use one or both with reduced pressure).

The fitness center was really nice, with lots of machines, bikes, and treadmills. They had an indoor pool with a nice whirlpool. The locker room was also very nice and clean.

We went to the rooftop bar that had a great view of the Potomac River, Georgetown, and the Kennedy Center. Just be warned, drinks are very pricey (over $15 per drink, and the specials were $14).

They have a restaurant where we had breakfast. My wife liked her omlette, and I went for the buffet, which was only OK (there were out of several items).

Overall, a nice place for a splurge, within a 7-10 minute walk to / from the Kennedy Center.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Potomac River / Georgetown.
