This is a well-situated, modernized row house. You have access to public transport (bus is easiest). Also near Union Station. A bit too far to walk to most restaurants if the weather is not good, so we mastered the bus system. The house is absolutely not a good place for people with disabilities: you must negotiate stairs to get up to the front door, and the bedrooms are all upstairs (except the sofa-bed downstairs). We had two children with us (ages 2 and 5), and they were okay with the stairs, but younger kids might struggle. The house was well-equipped with cooking utensils, towels, etc. Because we had small children as part of our group, we mostly got take-out. There is a Safeway with a parking garage; it is walkable if you are energetic (the house provides a tote cart) and the weather cooperative (in our case, it was not). Parking was on a nearby street (we had rented a big family van). Basic cable TV supplied, no fancy cable stations (e.g., HBO). No DVD player (that we could find). Internet service was great. Surrounding neighborhood looks safe enough. There is a KIPP Charter School down the street and police presence when kids (cute and lively) were coming and going from school. Lots of lone runners (including females) at night, so I am assuming that's a positive comment on the safety of the neighborhood. (We are unfamiliar with DC, so had to rely on visual clues).
